I was watching teh match again tonight. No joke, I'm really impressed with Liegel. Except for one match, Brown has beaten to hell (physically) every guy he has wrestled this year. His skill set isn't elite level, but the way he controls his opponent is. The fact that Liegel got in (well) a couple times and really, really looked solid at the end of the match says he is a strong kid with a good future.

It just looks like it would be a miserable time wrestling Brown. Even in his loss against Storely, he beat him up and if the quick pin wasn't called he wears him down and comes back to win or makes it very close, IMO. Didn't see the match but if Liegel was able to hang with Brown then he is indeed going to have a good future.
From what I have seen , I would love to see Brown and Howe go at it, and hopefully we will eventually get to see it. Howe is at a different level and he takes the match (at this point anyway) but the banging that would go on would scare off every woman and child (and for that matter most men) in the gym.

Re: Wisconsin Versus Penn State
While Brown is a good wrestler the hype train continues to roll out of control. He has faced one top 10 opponent and got pinned. If he starts beating up on the top guys in the big ten I'll change my tune, but at this point I'm not completely sold that he is anything more than a top 5-8 type guy. I can understand that Penn State fans are excited about him (they should be), but the way that he is being perceived by everyone including the people doing most of the rankings is more hype than substance at this point, IMO.

A top 5 to 8 guy is a pretty damn good guy, probably worth at least some hype. While I agree that he looks like he needs some refinement on his technique, he is physically brutal and regardless of what ranking level he is at, I am willing to bet it is not fun for anyone to wrestle him. Except maybe Howe.

Re: Wisconsin Versus Penn State
We'll know a lot more in a week. He will wrestle Kokesh (Neb) and Evans (Iowa). I'm especially looking forward to the Evans match. I'm not a fan of Evans, but no doubt he is a skilled wrestler and I think pretty mentally tough as well. I think it will be really interesting to see them go at it.
Howe and Brown would be awesome. How would win, but it would be a battle.

Re: Wisconsin Versus Penn State
All the Brown love spiraled out of control after he beat Storley(who got much much better) at the Scuffle.

Re: Wisconsin Versus Penn State
Vais brings up the start of it last year, especially for the general wrestling public. I think a good number of PSU fans got interested in him at the Scuffle, then really started to like him when he wrestled up at 197 a couple times and won against those guys (including a lower ranked guy from Nebraska, IIRC). Even more because he wore them down despite being outweighed by 20 pounds.
Folks around here love a kid can do that kind of stuff.
