Wiercioch stays close to home, gives Pitt third Top 100 commit

Oct. 15, 2012: Ranked No. 9 overall in the Class of 2013, Cody Wiercioch (Canon McMillan, Pa.) verbally committed to Pittsburgh this evening. Already a two-time POWERade Christmas Wrestling Tournament and Pennsylvania state champion, Wiercioch enters his senior year with a 123-4 career record.

Also a 2010 Super 32 Challenge champion, he projects as a 174/184 pound wrestler in college. Joining Wiercioch as Pitt verbals in this class are No. 18 Edgar Bright (St. Edward, Ohio) and No. 33 Ryan Solomon (Milton, Pa.).

Though I have no info, I highly doubt anyone teched Thielke in high school. That kid hardly ever lost in any style...

I was looking for confirmation online and couldn't find anything. Shaffer was a beast on the mat in high school and if he got going could put up points quickly against anyone. Like Roger Clemens, I'm likely misremembering

Check that, it was Jake Sueflohn. This is why I loved Shaffer coming out of high school....tough tough kid.
