Many of us who particpate in a "fringe sport" do so because we love the sport pure and simple, not because we look forward to the fame and fortune that professional sports offer. There are more important considerations than national exposure and money.

Okay, bad example, but I see no disgrace in retiring from competition at the height of one's abilities, especially in a sport as physically demanding as wrestling. Each individual need only answer to himself. If he has conducted himself honorably, he has no obligation to make excuses to anyone, and Cael continues to contribute to the sport.
