Okay, so do we want:

1. the National Champion team to be determined by the NCAA individual tournament format, or
2. the National Champion team to be determined by the Duals format, or
3. two different National Championship definitions with possibly two different National Champion teams?

Option 1 retains the importance of the NCAA Tournament and caps off the season with its premier event.
Option 2 severely diminishes the significance of the NCAA Tournament, but gives college wrestling more exposure, more money, and probably a wider audience.
Option 3, in my opinion, confuses the issue and is not viable.

My vote is for option 1, but I'm an old guy who values tradition and resists change.

An accurate evaluation I think, my vote would be for #2. I also like BlueBlood's idea of handing out the Gable award for the team with the most points at the individual tourney.

Maybe I'm not getting it, but isn't that what we already do? We have the National champions after NCAAs, and we have the National Dual champions as well.

When you talk about the defending National Champions, do you qualify it with which tournament you are talking about, or do you automatically refer to the NCAA Tournament Champions? I believe that at this point, there is only one accepted National Champion criterion.

Well, I'm never good to ask that question to, as I've never seen the NCAA tournament as a legitimate criterion to determine the national champions.

To me, the dual format, or a revised (fair) NCAA format is the only way to determine a true and fair national champion.

I may be wrong, but I think that the general consensus is that the winners of the NCAA tournament are considered THE National Champions. If someone were to ask who is the best team in college wrestling, that could be another matter open to debate.

I just dont see how you pool the teams fairly to get to the finals. The Big10 is a powerhouse in Wrestling, so you can't have conference champions pairing off, that would leave Iowa at home watching Penn State demolish teams.

No, you're definitely not wrong concerning the consensus opinion. I am very rare in this position that I take; I've met very few who share my views on this.

This is the one reason I would hesitate with the new format. Going to be very tough on these guys for sure.
