Results in Conf Tourneys vs NCAA's
I was looking through some results of last year's tournaments (conference and NCAA's) and was surprised by some of the results. I counted 3 NCAA champs that didn't win their conference tournaments: Dake, Amuchastegui, Rey. Also this year's #1 ranked LeBlanc didn't win his conferrence tournament last year either. Even UVU's Kjar who came in #4 at the NCAA's at 125, only came in 3rd in the WAC. These noted results were far from exhaustive.
One of my past favorite's was Molinaro as a FR placing 8th at the B1G's and needing a wildcard to get into the NCAA's and then coming in 8th.
What significant disparities have you noted between conference results and NCAA results--especially low conference placings and then winning the NCAA's.

Guys look to peak at ncaas, not conf.

AMU always wrestles better at Nats than any other time. Covington beat him like a drum then AMU reaches the finals. Look at his career -same thing every year.

Yes, all 3 guys mentioned were runners-up in conference before winning at NCAA's. I was surprised at how badly Bennet beat Amu in the Pac 10's. I sure am looking forward to seeing a Ruth vs Amu final. Hope we get it!

Quentin Wright appears to have a gear that he can turn on at NCAA's but his opponents know that now I think. I do NOT think he repeats however. Someone will rise up and meet his intensity. It may be someone people don't expect...an opponent that has faced him a number of times perhaps?

I could be wrong here, but I think J Jaggers finished 3rd in the Big Ten tournament both years he won the NCAA.

Actually I wasn't thinking Steinhaus.
