Default Relationship between High School Wrestler's Senior Ranking and NCAA Tournament Place

There is a lot of hype about high school kids and how high they are rated.

Perhaps this has already been done. I would be interested to see the correlation between a wrestler's ranking in his senior year and how high he finished at a subsequent NCAA tournament. I'll bet there is some but not a lot.

Iowa's recruits on that list are Billy Murphy, Travis Blasco and Matt Ballweg. One of them was of service to us.

Thanks Cpeake. I didnt see Montel on there.

If I'm reading this right there is even less correlation than I thought...
So is it the wrestler, the program or the coach that is MOST important in dictating the success of an NCAA wrestler?

    1) Jordan Burroughs-165 (Nebraska) 59 points (#94)
    14) Montell Marion-141 (Iowa) 31 points (#115)----

    and the list goes on...

Cejudo was the best wrestler on that list by far but never wrestled in college instead he wins the Olympic gold, and he cant even get an asterisk by his name, to let everyone know.

I would say it is the wrestler who determines most how good they will become. It comes down to how much they want to improve once being in college.

If that's true there should be a strong correlation between the number of NCAA team championships and the ranking of those team's recruiting class. For example, does Iowa or Oklahoma St. repeatedly have the number one or two ranked recruits? I don't know...
