    Default Ruth's Injury

Given Ruth's dominant wrestling after injury defaulting, he clearly wasn't hurt too badly. Anyone got insight (or guesses) as to what went on when he defaulted? Did the injury hurt like hell but improve with treatment? Was it a case of "well, we're gonna lose this one anyway, may as well focus for the next one"? Does Ruth now regret the decision to injury default?

He got his leg "all bent up" on his ego. Sometimes you just gotta walk that off.

Cael said in an interview on Flo that his knee locked up as a result of the bow and arrow that Amuchastegui was running and he just ran out of injury time.

A good friend and mentor of mine is related to Ed. Said it was all mental when he got that turk. You have summarized it perfectly. I doubt he regrets it since he felt he wouldn't be able to come back on Amuch.

All it takes is two seconds to win a wrestling match. He should regret it if he could've still wrestled. Quitting should never be an option, even when your on your back with just a few seconds left in a match like Gambrall and DSJ were at Midlands. I was never so disapointed in a hawkeye wrestler as I was those two on that day.

So the default was required by the rules instead of being a choice on Ruth/Sanderson's part? Makes sense.

Yea i saw the match, he was walking around when he defaulted, no knee locked at the time of default.

Ruth's first match after the injury was a 7-6 win over Luke Manuel. Not exactly a dominant performance for him. He definitely looked like the knee was slowing him down at that point. Getting the pin in the next round and some extra recovery time looked like it really helped.
Watching him try to walk to the middle of the mat as his injury time ran down, it looked like he was having trouble putting much weight on that leg. It looked like the right decision to me. And I am not sure Ruth regrets anything. He has to be close to the coolest dud on the planet.

He defaulted because he was injured. Once pride is injured in a wrestling match it is over.
