125 Robles by tech, Sanders, Precin, and Mac
133 Seed one through four get through - they are just a little better than the rest
141 Russell, Marion - team aspect helps, Alton - team aspect helps and he isn't gassing late, Thorn
149 Grajales (who would of thunk it earlier in the year), Dake (brings it when it counts), Chamberlain in OT (wake me up when it's over), Molinaro
157 Hall (too strong), Young (upset special), Taylor, Fittery
165 Burroughs, Sponsellor (at right weight and is gaining confidence), Caldwell, Howe (looking like he is wrestling into shape)
    174 Reader, Henrich, Lewnes, Ruth
184 Wright - team aspect, Gambrell - team and Iowa always has one of these, Bencomo (have too and he won't get beasted like Meridith - I bet ASU wishes they recruited him), Hamlin (OSU is flat)
    197 Simaz, Lofthouse, Brandvold, Foster
    285 Rey, Bradley, Flores, Trice

Perry has looked great, Hamlin was quite fortunate to get out of his last match. I think Perry takes him....

The Graff vs Ruggirello, Kennedy vs Marion, Boris vs Alton, Dake vs Parks, LeValley vs Chamerblain, Bubba vs Young, St. John vs Taylor, Asper vs Sponseller, Henrich vs. Co Co, Lofthouse vs Kilgore matches are going to be CRAZY awesome good!

Just some notes coming out of the first day, Va Tech showed up and did not perform, Stephens going 0-2, Carter losing early (although to a TOUGH Grey, still) Diaz getting pinned, Dong getting upset, Yates losing, Garnett...just seems like they peaked at National Duals and ever since have been stumbling along. Iowa is looking pretty good, Ramos could've helped along with Raising by winning that second round match. I was very impressed with Jansen coming from behind to get a good win in the wrestle backs. They are still in the hunt for sure but they have to have a good showing tomorrow in the Championship and the Consi.'s. Okie State seems to have had some big let downs as well today. Penn State is looking strong, Hawks need Alton and some others to stumble tomorrow (Long, Alton, Wright and Wade could all easily drop to the consi.'s tomorrow morning). Next upset: Kyle Dake loses to Jamal Parks ( I know not too big of an upset, but still I'm calling it ). Lastly, what a tough break for Caldwell. Like him or not he had a heck of a career and beat some great wrestlers to get to his senior year at the National Tournament and suffer such a bad injury.

My first guess was Perry so if he wrestles through it just proves the adage of never changing your first guess.

Some notable consolation match ups this morning...

    125
#4 James Nicholson (Old Dominion) v. #10 Alan Waters (Missouri)
US Brad Pataky (Penn State) v. US Sean Boyle (Michigan)
#11 Frank Perrelli (Cornell) v. US Matt Snyder (Virginia)

    133
David Thorn (Minnesota) v. Ian Paddock (Ohio State) Winner will likely have Ramos next round

    141
US Josh Kindig (Oklahoma State) v. US Chris Diaz (Virginia Tech)

    157
#9 James Fleming (Clarion) v. US Neil Erisman (Oklahoma State)
#11 Walter Peppelman (Harvard) v. DJ Meagher (Cornell)

    165
#11 Aaron Jannsen (Iowa) v. US Justin Lister (Binghamton)
#9 Justin Kerber (Cornell) v. US Ross Tice (Kent State) Winners of these two matches have each other next

    197
#10 Logan Brown (Purdue) v. US Brent Haynes (Missouri)

    285
#6 Ryan Tomei (Pittsburgh) v. US David Marone (Virginia Tech)
#8 Tony Nelson (Minnesota) v. US Ben Apland (Michigan)
#4 DJ Russo (Rutgers) v. #7 Blake Rasing (Iowa)

Not a lot going on at 149, 174, or 184.

The Nicholson/Waters, and Russo/Rasing matches are just brutal though.

Gotta give props to Penn St so far. They've been getting the bonus points. Gambrall has been wrestling tough. I don't think I can remember the last time he won three matches in one day durring a multiple day tournament.

I don't get the sentiment that Lofthouse is going to beat Kilgore.

Lofthouse is a brawler and Kilgore is pretty much the last guy in that 197 bracket that you're going to out brawl.
