Default 2011 Hodge Trophy: How its earned and who should win

I don't know my Hodge trophy trivia like some. I am wondering, if David Taylor techs and/or majors his way through this tournament, does he have a chance? If all undefeateds win out, does it come down to age or does the most deserving get it?

I dont see him gettingit unless burroughs robles and maybe even reader lose. Just dont see a freshmen getting it. If he bonuses through the tourney maybe. I think he is deserving.

I think Taylor has a shot, absolutely. I think the t falls for Robles might be considered an anomaly. I don't think it's a done deal.

The fact of his being a freshman would likely work against him. But don't forget--Cael won it as a freshman (and soph, junior, senior as well). I know that Cael's the only guy to win the Hodge 4 times. Does anyone know if any other freshman has won it other than him?

So, if Taylor majors or techs Fittery does he jump Oliver?

Cael Sanderson did not win the Hodge as a freshman, maybe you're thinking of the OW at NCAAs which he did win all four years. However, senior and returning NCAA champ Stephen Neal was an obvious choice that year with 31 pins to Cael's 10 pins. Should Taylor win 157 in dominating fashion, there's no one even close to as obvious a choice this year especially considering the pins leader is at the same weight and Caldwell won't be in consideration wrestling so few matches. They don't have the pins, but I still think it will be tough not to give the award to Burroughs or Robles should they win since both are seniors who have completely dominated almost every match.
