NCAA Seeding Thoughts

Rather than start two new threads, I thought I'd consolidate.

How do you think 184 gets drawn up?

1. Honeycutt
2. Hamlin

Those two seem set. Then maybe...

3. Rutt
4. Bosak

Those two are really critical. Mostly for Bosak. Honeycutt has been the one guy who has really handled him the last two years, and I'll bet he's really hoping to be on the other half. He does have a win over Rutt.

5. Kevin Steinhaus
6. Ryan Loder
7. Joe Leblanc

Or does Leblanc get higher than that?

It will be really interesting to see what they do with Wright.

Don't forget Kirk Smith in all of this. He's apparently gonna give it a shot. Hard to think he wouldn't earn a seed.

184 is totally wide open. I don't know what they do with Kirk Smith. His record rates a high side, but realistically with his injury I doubt that he can place. I guess I might give him a low seed based on his season's record and his being a returning finalist. Any name on that list could probably win this weight this year. My seeds wouldn't be too different from yours, Gold and I agree I don't know how they decide on where to put Wright. He could win it all or not even place depending on which guy shows up. I do think, though, that he's starting to get his mind in gear, which is where the battle is for him.

I really don't know that Smith should get a seed. I don't know if I think he should qualify, honestly. Schlatter kind of proved that too me last year.

And Smith's year isn't all that good to begin with anyway--there's just not much there. I guess if I were on the committee I'd want an honest appraisal from Boise State's coaches about his condition.

Why should Rutt keep a #3 seed after losing in Big Tens? Put Bosak at #3, he lost in the last seconds to #2 hamlin. I think Hamlin and Honeycutt are his only losses, right?

184 is the only weight in NCAA's that I can think of that #1 has switched between more than 2 people. Now with the late surges of Wright and Perry is it possible that this could be the final at NCAA's that a lot of people were thinking preseason?
Two weeks ago no one on Earth would pick that but now it seems possible. I like LeBlanc to finish with a bang and win it over Honeycutt. Seeds in this weight I don't think matter at all it is really anyones who comes up big an unseeded guy could be in the final and it wouldn't surprise too many.
