Has anyone ever had 21 tech falls in one season? Anthony Robles in 28 matches has scored 21 tech falls. Where would he be if he wrestled 35-40 matches in a regular season?
Other than Askren, I haven't seen anything like this before.

Tons of techs, but I think only one pin. Definitely a unique wrestler and a unique season.
Burroughs has 19 pins and techs plus 2 fft.s=21 and I believe only 2 decisions-the rest are majors. Against Spangler Sunday there was no score in the first and Burroughs still won 21-8-the guy Spangler was filling in for was ranked 8th .
David Taylor - 31 bouts, 14 TFalls 7 Pin Falls (21) and 9 majors - 30 of 31 for bonus points
Life's not the breaths you take, the breathing in and out that gets you through the day ain't what it's all about. It's the moments that take your breath away.
If they can't pin the opponent why give them a pass for scoring a lot of points? Make them wrestle the full time. Stopping the match short kills the chance the opponent can pull it out as Rob Rohn did with a pin a few years back. The goal in wrestling is a pin. Tech falls have many wrestlers avoiding it as they just try to pile up points.
I agree, zz, but I see it more as a mercy rule to keep the loser from being humiliated. I believe it was started around the time that Gene Mills was racking up lopsided wins. I believe that the goal of wrestling, especially folkstyle wrestling, is to pin, and anything that is not directly related to that goal (take 'em down and let 'em up; tilting) shouldn't be allowed, let alone rewarded. But I'm an old timer and I realize that things change. Pinning has taken a back seat to winning any way you can.
