I just think it's unfortunate for these girls that they have to compete with boys. Nothing wrong with it, but in the case of Alyssa Lampe she was clearly one of if not the premier female wrestlers in the country, but never even won a state title because of the significant physical disadvantage she had against boys.

Personally I would have ripped her head off. Once she stepped on the mat she is no longer a girl, just my opponent and she'd probably have it no other way.

For the first time ever in Iowa a girl made it to state. In fact two of them made it. They both just happen to be at the same weight in the same class. One girl lost her first two matches and is already done. The other is still in the winners bracket due to the fft.

i had to wrestle 2 girls. i was a sophmore in high school and called my dad and asked what to do. he said "If she wants to do a sport like a man, wrestle her like one." i take nothing away from women wrestlers, a lot of them would probably kill me! but as soon as you step on the mat your just another opponent that isnt going to show me mercy.

Yeah Ban. I would wrestle her just like I would wrestle anyone else...I'd rip her head off. Or try to. When I wrestled I tried to inflict as much pain on my opponent as legally possible. I don't think she would have it any other way. I'm sure she's not looking for special consideration because she's a girl. I think it's great that she's done so good.

I wonder if David Thorn would try to punch her in the face if she wrestled him after the whistle.

Yes, he would...bc he's David Thorn. And his brother would do the double pump fists to the sky.

Why exactly don't US states have a girls division? Living in Canada, that's so odd to me.

Some states' do have a girl's division...may 3-4 of them. But few girls in most states are interested so the Governing bodies of the states (WIAA here) just don't feel the pressure to provide the opportunity.

I think if they had a separate girls division then more girls would go out for it - better for everyone.

I would guess with most states theres just not enough girls to do a girls only division. I know here in Maine alot of girls wrestle in the 103 division but dont win states or anything but after the season we have a girls state meet so that they can crown their own champions
