If you take a look at the schedules that the two wrestlers have faced rather than just relying on conjecture its pretty much a toss up.

Had Iowa not skipped National Duals, McDonough probably would have seen several other quality guys (at least enough to give him an advantage here) but we all know what happened there.

I'll let the numbers speak for themselves as to who has wrestled better, who has wrestled tougher competition, and to who would be more deserving of the #1 seed.

I think the answer is pretty clear.

I don't know anything about Robles, but my bet is that Precin beats McDonough next time they wrestle in the Big 10 championship. He was dominating McDonough until the headlock and I bet he doesn't get headlocked next time.

Just curious who McDonough would have wrestled that would have given him more quality wins at National Duals that he has already faced, or most certainly would have beaten. He faced Morrison from okie st later in the month, maybe Sanders? But, he will face him soon enough, and i think that its pretty apparant that McDonough handles Sanders so far at least based on prior results.

That's the first tier. Obviously those three have kind of separated themselves from the rest of the pack. I'm pretty comfortable with my Precin pick (that I've picked all along). He already has taken that beating from Robles and showed that he learned from it enough to beat Robles. McDonough hasn't had that fortune.

6. Nic Bedelyon
7. Jon Morrison
8. Jarrod Patterson

I could see these five being jumbled up in any order, really. I can see any of them beating any of them. 125 is pretty uncertain. But I put them like this for various reasons. Sanders I put at the front because he has proven that he shows up at NCAAs. Nicholson has done everything you could ask of him this year, including beat Sanders. I just feel like Sanders will be better at NCAA's. Bedelyon started off redhot with a bunch of techs (notably over Garnett), has missed a good bit of time due to injuries. His loss to Waters is the only real question mark I see (and Waters has been a great frosh). I'm told he was beating Pataky handily before getting cement mixed, which will happen from time to time when you're wrestling Pataky. Patterson beat Morrison, and I definitely think he can do it again. I just worry about Patterson's offense; he's the kind of guy who keeps every match very close and wins off tough riding and smart wrestling (except when he's wrestling Robles). I put Morrison a spot ahead of him because all those close matches come back to bite you and Morrison scores more points.

While our definitions of "quality" may vary, and he obviously wouldn't have wrestled all of these guys he'd have had the opportunity to possibly meet up with Perrelli, Sanders, Waters, Morrison, Lara, and Garnett all of whom he would have been favored against and all of whom would have been nice additions to his record this year.

Fair enough. Off the top of my head i couldnt think of who else McDonough would have faced at National duals outside of Sanders and really Perelli, but I just dont see Perelli being able to handle all 7 minutes with MM either. I think that Sanders was probably the best of the bunch there just based on his AA status, but like somebody already mentioned Sanders seems to have the ability to turn things on at NCAAs and maybe drops a few matches he could win during the regular season.

Basically, there's two arguments being used a lot. Guys saying Precin/McDonough B10 winner should get the number 1 seed are saying that everyone acknowledges that Precin, McDonough, and Robles are the best 3 guys, and Precin and McDonough have only lost to each other, and while Robles has faced a bunch of top 10/20 guys, he hasn't faced either of the other big dogs at the weight. Guys saying Robles should get #1 seed are saying he's the only one who's undefeated, and while he hasn't wrestled either Precin of McDonough, he's wrestled by far the more consistently tough schedule.

Both arguments have some validity to them, and I'm not sure exactly where I feel on this one...that said, I do think Robles ends up winnign the weight. He appears to have taken his neutral wrestling to another level, and combined it with his destructive top game, I think he beats Precin and McDonough if he has to.

I should be clear---I'm definitely rooting for McDonough to win, and I hope I'm wrongand slightly mislead by Robles wrestling inferior competition.
