Back in the 90s PSU had a couple of matches @ the BJC, (the BB arena) when the Hawkeyes came to town. I think they drew 9000 for one & 11,000 for another. Rec Hall holds 7000 MAX & that's with people standing on the indoor track at the top of the place.

There has been some talk in PSU wrestling circles about losing that great old time wrestling atmosphere in Rec Hall if Cael gets his wish & the team eventually moves to the BJC, (capacity I think is 15,000 & is the biggest arena in PA outside of Pitt & Philly).

@ this point I am sure a top ranked B10 school will draw that much to justify an occasional match to BJC but probably not the entire B10 schedule. Lehigh would probably be the top draw outside of Iowa & Minnesota.

Currently PSU does wrestle their B10 schedule on Fridays & Sundays. I think most schools do.

BTW the Michigan match had over 4500 in attendance in the middle of a snow storm while NW on Friday drew 3800. These are nearly double the attendance from last year.

Penn State football recruit Mike Hull leads Canon-Mac to WPIAL wrestling title

    http://www.zimbio.com/Penn+State+Spo...ike+Hull+leads

Canon-McMillan held a two-point lead with one bout remaining in Tuesday's WPIAL Class AAA title match against Kiski Area at Fox Chapel.

That's when Michael Hull, a Penn State <nobr style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 100%; color: darkgreen;" id="itxt_nobr_1_0">football</nobr> recruit, made his appearance, despite a separated shoulder...

Hull, despite a 60-pound weight disadvantage, posted a 3-2 victory in the 285-pound weight class to cap the Big Macs' 32-27 victory. It was the sixth team tournament title for Canon-McMillan, but the first since 1995.

Hull wrestled as a sophomore but sat out last season while recovering from a back injury. He returned this season to help the Big Macs during the dual-meet season by winning all eight of his matches.

"I'm glad the match was postponed twice," said Hull, who sustained the injury while playing in the Team USA vs. The World football game on January 30th. "I wouldn't have been able to wrestle if the match was Saturday. The extra time really helped."

    TDR live @ match.

Michigan State Spartans come to Happy Valley for a visit with Cael Sanderson and his Nittany Lions. This will be an exciting match up. Former PSU Wrestlers Bubba Jenkins and Chad Dubin will join Scott Casber for the call from the mat.

    Interesting...
