Fullerton, Calif. - No. 17-ranked Arizona State won nine of ten matches Sunday afternoon to overpower Cal State Fullerton, 37-4, in a Pac-10 wrestling match.
The Sun Devils improved to 2-0 overall and in the Pac-10 while the Titans fell to 0-2 and 0-2.
ASU got pins from Kyle DeBerry at 165 and Ben Ashmore at 133 and a technical fall from Anthony Robles at 125.
Fullerton's win came at 197 where Dylan Klink, normally a 184-pounder, scored a major decision (11-1) over Michael Hawkins.
Fullerton came close to winning the heavyweight bout. Kurt Klimek lost to Eric Nye, 3-2, when his takedown came just after the final buzzer.
The 141-pound bout was the most competitive. ASU's defending Pac-10 champion Chris Drouin scored a takedown with about 35 seconds remaining to beat Fullerton's Adin Duenas, 7-5.
Titan Gym hosts the Fullerton Open next Saturday and then the 44th annual NWCA All-Star Classic Sunday at 2 p.m.
