RIP Jacob Schlottke 1984-2011
Wow nice to read and listen to thoughts on Metcalf.
What i have noticed is that he seems to have lost alot of his self confidence. It will be real interesting to see where he goes from here. I expect he will come back with a vengeance.
I think its because he's "relaxing" somethang he's not used to doing. This is a real different time for him now. He should take advantage of it and come back and be hungry. Brent Metcalf is human and cant do this all year long with 4hrs in the gym and doing the same boring excersices that nobody else will do...After time it takes it toll..
After awhile he will regain his confidence..But him not refering to himself as a second person is great for him and his fans.
Good article, but it's kind of funny that Metcalf is referred to as "iconic". The Wall Street Journal just had an opinion piece arguing that the word "icon" is extremely overused. This is a good example.
Two things on this topic.
1. Metcalf is an icon in the sport, right now. Part of that status is derived from wrestling at an iconic wrestling program and being one the faces of that program
2. The guy that said, "David Taylor runs to PSU w/ Cael.I hope I get the chance to put the hurt on Cael's star recruit.Doing it to Bubba was getting boring anyway" and "Now I get why Iranians don't like me they don't like how I oppress their wrestlers reminds them of their gov" and "Had a staring contest with Gable in a steam room 4 hours I'm going to break that dude one day" has not lost any confidence.![]()
Pretty sure that's a fake Twitter account, but still, very funny.

Jacob Schlottke---Gone too soon, and the world is a little less bright because of it. RIP, brother.
One, two, Evans is coming for you...
Lets just hope he doesn't embarrass himself and his University by chasing David Taylor around after he has lost .
Brent Metcalf is one of my favorites. I'm glad to see that he is working on preparing himself properly for next season and beyond. He had a rough going the last few months and deserves a break. I expect to see him atop the podium come next March.
Lets go Brent!
