Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel's Turtogtokh Luvsandorj will compete in the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season, beginning Thursday morning in Philadelphia.

Luvandorj (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia) was named the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Year as he sports an overall record of 38-8 on the season. He has wrestled 10 nationally ranked opponents this season, winning eight of those contests. The 38 wins for the Mongolian is just one shy of the all-time single-season wins mark at The Citadel, set by Ryan McClester in the 2003-2004 season with 39.

Last season, Luvsandorj made the trip the NCAA Championships as a true freshman after winning the automatic league bid at 157pounds in the Southern Conference Championships. This year, the sophomore has bumped up a weight classed to 165 pounds and posted a stellar overall record that included a perfect 5-0 record in the SoCon in the regular season.

The sophomore has recorded nine wins over wrestlers in the field of 165-pounders this season. The Bulldog grappler is matched up in the opening round against Wyoming's Shane Onufer, who is the No. 7 national seed at 165 pounds. Onufer has an overall record of 29-2 win seven pins on the season and won the West Regional automatic bid.

The winner of the Onufer-Luvsandorj match will wrestle against the winner of the match between Rider's Jim Resnick and No. 10 Zach Toal of Missouri in the second round. In his freshman season, Luvsandorj fell to No. 12 Steve Brown of Central Michigan by major decision, 12-1, and was then eliminated by Millersville's Jarrett Hostetter, 7-1.

The opening round of the 2011 NCAA Championships are set to begin on the morning of Thursday, March 17 at 11 a.m. at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The second round will begin at 6 p.m. All of the action will be streamed live on ESPN3.com at http://www.ncaa.com/news/wrestling/2...nships-central.
