PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Posting a 1-1 record on Thursday, Air Force sophomore Cole VonOhlen (Jackson, Minn.) wrapped up the opening day of competition at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, being held at the Wells Fargo Center.

VonOhlen, the Falcons' lone NCAA qualifier, began the day with an impressive win, pinning Iowa State's Chris Drouin in a time of 2:20. VonOhlen, seeded ninth in this year's bracket at 141 pounds, earned his 43rd victory of the season, and his 14th win by fall.

With the victory, VonOhlen earned a spot in the second round, facing another returning All-American, eighth-seeded Zack Bailey from Oklahoma. Against Bailey, VonOhlen never led, coming up short in a 7-4 decision.

VonOhlen continues action at the 2011 NCAA Championships tomorrow, when he moves into the consolation bracket. Friday's first session is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m. (ET).
