BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana's Ricky Alcala was one of five heavyweights to receive an at-large bid to the 2011 NCAA Wrestling Championships, announced on Wednesday. He owns a 28-9 overall record and is ranked 16th nationally heading into the national tournament.

It marks Alcala's third trip to the NCAAs in as many seasons, doing so as a member of the UC-Davis wrestling program in 2009 and 2010.

Three other Hoosiers earned automatic bids via their performance at the Big Ten Championships last weekend in Evanston, Ill. Kurt Kinser, Paul Young and Matt Powless will not only compete in the NCAA Championships, but have each been named seeds as well.

Powless is IU's highest seeded grappler, chosen as the No. 8 seed in the 197-pound weight class. Kinser and Young, meanwhile, came in as No. 10 and No. 12 seeds, respectively.
