Grapplers tabbed No. 15 in final NWCA/USA Coaches Poll

MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin wrestling team is ranked No. 15 in the final 2010-11 National Wrestling Coaches Association/USA Today Division I Team Coaches Poll, it was announced Wednesday.

Cornell boasts the top spot for the fourth week in a row while Iowa is ranked No. 2.

Joining No. 2 Iowa and No. 15 Wisconsin, six other Big Ten Conference teams are ranked in the final poll including No. 4 Penn State, No. 5 Minnesota, No. 11 Michigan, No. 14 Northwestern, No. 19 Illinois and No. 23 Purdue.

Several Badgers were also highly touted in the final individual rankings released by including juniors Andrew Howe and Travis Rutt and redshirt senior Trevor Brandvold, who all landed among the top three in their respective weight classes.

Howe, who has been sidelined for over a month after suffering an injury on Jan. 16, slates the No. 2 spot at 165 lbs. The two-time Big Ten Champion and defending NCAA Champion boasts an 18-2 overall record.

Brandvold joins Howe as a No. 2-ranked grappler. The 197-pounder is undefeated entering the Big Ten Championships with an 11-0 overall mark.

The final Badger to slate the top three is No. 3 Rutt. At 184 lbs., Rutt is currently 26-1 overall and has not dropped a match since Dec. 4.

Wrapping up the ranked Badgers are No. 4 Tyler Graff (133 lbs.), No. 12 Ben Jordan (174 lbs.), No. 13 Schmitt (149 lbs.) and No. 12 Bugenhagen (Hwt.).

The Badgers get back on the mat for the Big Ten Championships March 5-6 at the Welsh-Ryan Arena in Evanston, Ill.
