BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech swept all 10 matches Saturday, including a pair of pins, a technical fall and a major decision to defeat NC State 40-0 in an Atlantic Coast Conference wrestling match at Cassell Coliseum.

The sixth-ranked Hokies improved to 17-4 overall and 4-0 in the ACC with the victory. NC State dropped to 8-9 overall and 1-3 in the ACC.

Virginia Tech got pins from freshman Devin Carter at 133 pounds over NC State's Dale Shull, and from Chris Penny at 197 over the Wolfpack's KaRonne Jones. Tech's Jarrod Garnett opened the match with a technical fall over Pedram Rahmatabadi at 125 pounds, and Jesse Dong took a major decision from Colton Palmer at 157.

Senior 149-pounder Darrion Caldwell, a two-time All-American and the 2009 NCAA champion for the Wolfpack, did not wrestle due to a nagging injury. He is expected to be ready to go when NC State hosts The Citadel on Tuesday at Reynolds Coliseum. Caldwell currently is ranked No. 1 nationally at 149 pounds.

Tuesday's dual vs. The Citadel will be Military Appreciation Night. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
