GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - The Arizona State University wrestling team opened the 2011 Lone Star Duals with a win in their first of four duals on the day as the Sun Devils downed Northern Colorado, 30-19, Saturday morning in Grand Prairie, Texas. The Sun Devils improved to 5-4 on the year while the Bears fell to 0-4 overall.

As it will be all day, the dual opened at 125 pounds where No. 2 Anthony Robles continued to dominate his opponents on the year. Robles moved to 19-0 with the 12th technical fall victory of the season as he downed Sam Bauer, 16-0, for a 5-0 team lead. After David Prado dropped a 6-1 decision at 133, ASU increased its lead to 11-3 at 141 as Kalin Goodsite won by forfeit.

Despite the lead, the Bears won the next two matches with a 14-6 major decision at 149 and win by forfeit at 157 to take the advantage in the team score, 13-11. The lead changed hands back-and-forth in the next two matches as ASU moved back into the lead, 17-13, as Te Edwards pinned Brandon Kammerzell at 6:30 for six more points. At 174, however, an injury forced the Sun Devils to forfeit, giving UNC six points and the lead, 19-17.

While ASU was down by two points with three matches to go, it did not matter as the Sun Devils swept the remaining three matches to collect 13 points and win the dual, 30-19. First up, Jake Meredith pinned his opponent in 4:05 in the 184 match for six points before Luke Macchiaroli won a 7-1 decision over Nick Bayer at 197 for three more points. The dual ended after Levi Cooper won a 12-3 major decision over Konner Knudtsen at heavyweight for the final four team points in the decision.

The Sun Devils return to the mats at noon today as they face Air Force.
