Homestead South Dade?s Earl Hall (No. 13 @ 119) has been named the 2011 Florida Dairy Farmers Wrestler-of-the-Year while Springstead?s Eric Swensen and Brandon?s Russ Cozart were named co-winners of the Florida Dairy Farmers? Wrestling Coach-of-the-Year award.

The winners of the 19th annual awards, sponsored by Florida Dairy Farmers, Inc. and the Florida Athletic Coaches Association, were determined in voting by a statewide panel of high school wrestling coaches and prep media representatives.

Hall won the 119-pound weight class at this year?s Class 3A state finals, finishing the season with a 52-0 record and completing his high school career as a four-time state champion. Hall, who earlier was named the Class 3A Wrestler-of the-Year, finished ahead of Class 2A Wrestler-of-the-Year Brandon Jorge (125) of Lake Gibson and Class 1A Wrestler-of-the-Year Ladarious Jackson of New Port Richey Gulf.

Swensen led Springstead to the Class 2A state title with 269 points while Cozart led Brandon to the Class 3A state title with 185.5 points as the two coaches finished ahead of Class 1A Coach-of-the-Year, Frank Pettineo of Cardinal Gibbons for the overall state coaching honor.

The Florida Dairy Farmers Sports Awards program exemplifies Dairy Farmers, Inc. ? s commitment to the state ? s youth. While honoring the state?s top athletes and coaches in 28 FHSAA-sanctioned sports for the 19th consecutive year, the program also emphasizes to young people the importance of keeping dairy products a primary part of their diet in their overall nutrition plan.
