No matter how big the stage or stiff the competition, New Oxford senior Jordan Conaway* (No. 9 @ 112) always finds a way to come out on top.

Two weeks after winning his first PIAA Class AAA title, Conaway notched a victory for Pennsylavania in the 37th Annual Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic at University of Pittsburgh?s Fitzgerald Field House. He defeated Evan Silver (No. 2 @ 112) of Blair Academy (New Jersey) in their 112-pound bout on Sunday by a final of 3-2.

Silver, a four-time Prep champion with just 10 career losses, proved a formidable defensive foe. Neither wrestler secured any big shots until Conaway (146-20) came through with a takedown early in the third period.

?Going into the third I was up, and I knew he?d probably try to get out,? Conaway said. ?All I needed was one takedown, so that?s what I went for and I got it.?

Conaway?s varsity coach and father, Dave, explained that Jordan then rode out the Stanford University recruit for the final 90 seconds of the match.



Always calm and collected, Jordan?s strategy was to treat this match like any other.
