For Andrew Campolattano (No. 1 @ 215) Tries for Fourth State Title and many other topics visit

Andrew Campolattano (No. 1 @ 215) of Bound Brook is just four victories away from becoming New Jersey?s second four-time NJSIAA champion. Mike Grey of Delbarton, who ended with a 158-2 record from 2003-?06, is still the state?s lone four-time champion. Campolattano, 171-1 in his career, is the state?s all-time victory leader and his 114 career pins are the most ever in NJSIAA history, too.

The senior won his first three championships at 189 pounds and had to do so against very strong competition.

He won his first championship by beating the returning state runner-up, Tyler Smith of Belvidere, 6-5 in the quarterfinals. He won his second in an epic 2009 final in which Mac Mancuso of Holy Spirit had Campolattano on his back twice before the Bound Brook star prevailed, 10-7. Mancuso won the state title at 189 pounds in 2007. Campolattano?s third title was no walk in the park, either. He edged relentless Mike Wagner of South Plainfield in the final, 9-4.

This remains a quality weight class despite Campolattano?s dominance. Campolattano (40-0) may have to deal with the likes of Taylor Bernstein (35-2) of Montville, Mitchell Seigel (35-2) of Marlboro and Dan Sullivan (32-6) of Delbarton on his side of the bracket. Campolattano defeated Seigel just 5-3 at the All-Star Invitational at Brick Memorial on Jan. 30.
