For Linden?s Kyle Fisher ready for match against Gabe Dean (No. 8 @ 189) and many other topics visit

Linden?s Kyle Fisher has read the message boards, and according to a contingent of prep wrestling followers, he doesn?t stand a chance against Lowell?s Gabe Dean (No. 8 @ 189) should the two meet in the 189-pound division state finals Friday at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Some have posted comments saying that Fisher, who is the second-ranked grappler in the 189-pound division and unbeaten at 56-0, will lose by a major decision ? by eight points or more, fall by way of a ?tech,? which is by 15 or more, or get pinned.

That doesn?t sound like a favorable forecast, but Fisher ? who was All-Flint Metro League, and won district and regional titles as a senior this season ? doesn?t mind the naysayers? predictions.

Because if he has anything to say about the matter, the critics will have to eat their words.

?It?s not going to happen,? he said confidently. ?I know he?s predicted to win at the 189 weight class. I?ve been working really hard, and I think I can knock him off.?

It?s been 52 weeks in the making, and Fisher has given much thought to the potential duel with Dean, who is No. 1 in state and unbeaten at 36-0. He?s also ranked eighth nationally.

?I?ve been thinking about it all year,? said Fisher.
