What'd you think? Be honest. Things you liked, things you disliked, things you definitely want to stick around for next year, and/or things that can be tweaked. I've got a thread buried in here somewhere with some changes that we're definitely going to make, and then some possibilities for some others.
Been a fun one gentlemen, hope to see you, or those of you that posted your line ups every week at the very least back up in here next season.

You should post draft times. 7:00-9:00 each night or something like that. If you can't draft, you leave some options for draft commish and he can draft for you. You get 10 minutes and then the next guy goes. If you aren't here, you draft when you get back the next day. Post a big board so people don't draft the same people twice.
LoSt has to have more luck. This bad luck stuff this year just seemed unfair for him.
I say people pay $10.00 or more so that they are incentivized to post line-ups and to participate. I was one who didn't so I will be the first to rip on myself.
15 wrestlers was a good number. The redraft after Christmas was great. It really helped people strategize I think.
Trades should also be stopped one week after Christmas. I could see loopholes where people that start falling out of the race just start giving away their team because they don't have to think about "next year".
Using injury back-ups, I agree you have to post the person's name not just Harvard's back-up.
The flex was fun, I liked that option.
I would like to see the first round be a "keeper" league so we can keep one guy. Selfishly, I want to keep Ness but I think its a reward for those guys who stayed with it this year and incentivizes people to return the next year.
I want to sign up for next year today.
LoSt has to get his own computer or kick his mom out of his room although drunk posting is always encouraged.

It was fun and I enjoyed it a lot. THanks for doing it for us.

I think you should keep the playoff system. However, you could change it up a bit.
Let the conference week, be the last week of regular scoring. Top 4 guys go onto the championship the next week and offer up one or two wildcard spots based on the conference week alone. So you could be in last place, but if your boys show up at conferences, you can win a chance to play for the title. The last week at nationals could just be a straight up 5-6 man scramble for high score throughout the tourney.
If you incorporate this, I would suggest a regular season & post season titles. This year, Trusty would be the regular season champ.....now playing in the playoffs.
I think you have to incorporate more East Coast tournaments. We have a big time Midwest bias in our fantasy league. I don't think you count every tourney, but there are some solid tourney's you could use (Body Bar, Penn State Open....).
I think the cash is a good idea. I feel like a donkey for not doing it this year.
LoSt cannot use his mother as a fantasy consultant. Just not fair. And she is very unlucky.
The league this year was a success. I really had a great time with it. I'd be careful not to change things up too much. If its not broke.....don't fix it.
Keeper League & Wild Card Playoff Spots are my two main suggestions.

We're using both your ides, so don't pat yourself on the back too hard.
I'll be looking through the tournament results page on Intermat sometime in the offseason to find some good tournaments on both coasts. We're going to expand the number of scoring events, just not sure by how much. The All Star dual will count next year too.
To try and do better by the draft, we're definitely going to start it earlier next season, so even if it does take a long time, it'll be done before the first week of competition.
As I've said through out the season since its come up, the injury replacement rule is something that I really want to find a good solution for. So keep this stuff coming.

I can't think of any other specific changes now, but I'll be thinking.

As I posted earlier, I have had a blast playing in the fantasy league and can't wait to play next year. To add my two cents regarding possible changes:
1. Loved the supplemental draft. Helped to fill significant holes that I didn't know were gonna be there (ie Ciasulli losing out in the wrestle-offs or Halsey not being eligible all season) as well as kept us on the look out during the 1st half of the season for "dark horses" and freshmen who were coming on. I hope we keep it next year.
2. Totally agree with Brother Gopher regarding the length of the draft. Find a time that most folks can make (4 hrs max) and stick with that. If it's a week-end, we should be able to git er done.
3. Totally DISAGREE with Bro. Gopher on the back-up question. I think it really is too much to expect that anyone who is not an insider (and even then, we are usually talking about being an insider for a max of one team) to be able to know in advance who the back-up is going to be by name. It seems reasonable to me to say that if we have the varsity guy, we should also by default have anyone else whom the coach sticks in the spot. The exception could be the whole losing a wrestle-off deal that I mentioned above. I felt like that was just my bad luck and the chance you take as a drafter. But with temporary changes and short term injuries, we should get a break, IMO.
4. Miscellaneous stuff: I loved trading, although for me it slacked off after the Vegas or so. I hope there are no restrictions placed on trades; Keeper league idea is cool. I would be willing to sacrafice somewhat to keep my man Varner (although he probably was not my top scorer); I like the Friday deadlines; I agree with whomever suggested that we keep the season going for everyone through conferences; I wish everyone would pay $ up front, but if a guy hasn't paid he should have ZERO say in how thing go during the season. I have much love for Brother Lost, but i think he had way too much nerve and created way too much self-serving hassle for someone who had not contributed financially to the cause.
5. Hope everyone plays again next season. Again, it was a great time and got us through the winter. Thanks again Brother Commish and all who were involved in making this thing work ! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
