Fantasy League Discussion: 12/28-1/3

i hate to douse you with water LOST but I just had a huge week and picked up basically 20 points on the top four and in some cases 50 or 60 on many others and only went from 8th to 5th with a big gap to close to get in the Top four...

my new philosophy has been to try to get as many guys going as possible and then hope to SLOWLY move up as my team has been really up and down based on matches...the first week I think I was #2, then I dropped to #4, then to #7 and then to #8 before coming back up to #5...i think some good luck is going to have to fall my way or something is going to have to happen to someone in the Top four for me to do anything in the short run...

We will see though...Midlands/Scuffle is going to seperate the men from the boys I think and I for one have no idea how I am going to do. All I know is that I wish I had my heavyweight (Bergman) going this weekend but I don't. I think that is going to hurt me.

Thats why Im looking at the next 5 weeks instead of just one :P

It really does hinge on my performance this weekend and at national duals though, Im pretty confident ill pick up more points outside of those two weeks but they are probably going to give us a pretty good idea of who is going to win.

Any discussion on if there should be bonus points for the champs? It's tough to swallow that a guy can take 3rd and score more points than the champ.

I'm cool with it either way (i mean....we're all on the same ground). Just a thought.

It is kind of tough to swallow, and I do get where you're coming from, but this can happen in real life too. Guys go on rampages through the consi brackets, and they can score more points than a champ who wins all his matches by decision.

I'm still kind of loathe to switch things up in the middle of the season, but this is a legit question, if you all want bonus points for champs, check in here. We get more than half, I'll start handing them out.

It seems like my guys are the ones parading (on occasion) through the consi's, so I would like to keep it how it is, for this season. Next year though, I definitely vote for bonus points for champs.

I think that next year we should have bonus points for champs. Kind of late to change the rules now though.

I would be fine with a mid-season rule change to fix this problem but with the tournament starting tomorrow I just dont think there is enough time for us to discuss a reasonable alternative and vote on it. If this had come up a week ago I'd be all for it.

I think for confrences and ncaas the scoring obviously needs to be different (not sure if that was included in the original rules or not)

Cool. I'm fine with the way it is also.

However, a 3rd placer does NOT score more points than a champ in a real tournament. The scoring system is designed to prevent that. That would mean 10 3rds could beat a team of 10 1sts.
