Yep, exactly the way I see it.

I guess I'd probably do that, I dont think caldwell will keep until the 5th round next year for some reason He has nowhere to go but up too

Grips bringing up Franklin and Marshall's Herbert in the Supplemental thread brought a thought about...

When the "other" Herbert comes back next year, it'll be really interesting at least to me what people do, if we do in fact go with the keeper rule.

Do you hang onto one of your guys from this past year?

Or do you throw caution to the wind, and shoot for the #1 overall pick so you can take Herbert?

I'm starting to come around a little bit to this keeper option...

I was hesitant at first because I didnt know if caldwell was a first round pick, but he scores so many points and he's already beaten a lot of top guys its hard to imagine him not being top 14. He's had like six matches go the distance in two years.

I guess the question is....will the drawing be before or after you have to decide if you want a keeper?

What I mean is if you could see your potential draft order, then you might decide to draft instead of keeping.

No, I'll figure out who's going to keep guys first.

Then whoever isn't keeping a guy, or is new to the league I'll do a draw for them to get their draft positions.

After I establish that order, I'll do a drawing for those who have decided to keep guys.

If we do this, the #1 overall pick will go to someone who isn't keeping a guy. Gofer said it pretty well through out the thread, if you keep a guy, you'd better really want him.

For a longer, possibly slightly more confusing explanation of this, I spoke about it in post #17 on the last page.

I like this its a really interesting element, it could be kind of a gamble as there are some guys that you'd probably be very happy with getting 10th overall but if you would have gotten the #1 pick then you lost out by holding onto a guy.

And plus, you can choose not to keep a guy to try and take a shot at Herbert, and even if you don't get him, you may get your guy that you thought about keeping back regardless of your draft slot.
