Dude, we'll see. Maybe, and this is a BIG maybe, when NCAA's come around, I'll ask the last two men standing what they think on the topic. But right now it really is irrelevant.

I'm not going to commit to that right now because mostly I don't feel like calculating all those numbers.

The system I've set up is very simple, both for me to generally calculate, and its very easy for people to recalculate to find possible screw ups, and point them out to me.

Conference Champs have always been 5 point bonuses to the best of my memory.

I dont think it'd be that hard to do tournament scoring for two competitors with 16 of us... we could even break it up if you really wanted so we each scored one wrestler on each team.

I edited my post to give you another very realistic example where a eventual 3rd place finisher loses in the quarters and ends up scoring 22 points to the champs 23 using your system.

I guess this can wait because there is a lot of season left but this is something that should be decided sooner rather then later and not left to the last minute. I would have been all for changing scoring for the scuffle/midlands but we didnt bring up the idea until today and so obviously there wasnt enough time to impliment a change, I dont want the same thing to happen for confrences/ncaas.

Also I checked your original post and you are correct, confrence champs are 5 points. I'd be more hesitant to change confrence scoring as a lot of people (myself included) drafted somewhat based on confrence and changing that now could screw up some teams. I think for confrences the best idea would be to just run them how you have planned and based on how that goes we can decide if some changes should be made for next year.

Since you won't be there in the finals LOST, it won't really matter...I know that with all of your "suggestions", Jensens might be ready to hand over all of the responsibility to you for next year.

We all knew the rules when we signed up. What you might want to do is just have a sticky thread with some ideas or suggestions for next year, that way you don't have to hash all of this out in this thread.

Gofer you seem to be awefully negative every time I come up with an idea I really dont know what your problem is? This is the first year we've tried this you are wrong NO we didnt know exactly what we signed up for as evidenced by the numerous times the rules have had to be clarified for injuries replacements the supplimental ect ect ect. Its one thing to try to change the rules for the whole thing midseason, its another to change the way the final tournament is scored well in advance.

Maybe I'll be in the finals maybe I wont but either way this seems like a way more logical way of doing things, if people disagree then I guess keep it the way it is but to me the 3rd place guy getting more points then an NCAA champion doesnt make sense, and I think Im probably not alone on that one.

What I meant was, in real life if you have a guy go out of a tournament early, just one guy, and he goes on a pinning rampage through the consolations, and comes back to take third, it is possible for him to score more team points than a guy who wins four, or five decisions, but takes first.
I'm not sure this is true. Just for conversation sake. I'm pretty sure they design most tourneys so that (even with bonus), a champion who decisions his way through the tourney can score more points than a guy who pins his way through the consi's.

Lost, I don't think Gofer is being negative nor has a problem with you. I think he's just saying, "let it be!"

grips under ncaa scoring a guy who lost first round and pinned every opponent on his way to 3rd place would be worth 25 points versus a champ who won every match by dec being 20, but I am 100% certain this has never happened and likely never will.

Under ncaa rules it is remotely possible for a 3rd guy to be worth more then a 1st, but under jensens system its not only possible but fairly likely.

Lost, Grips, and others...I appreciate your suggestions, I really do, and will look into many of them for next year's edition.

But for now, in the interest of fairness, I think our best bet is to stick with the rules that we started out with, warts and all.
