Tournaments Joined: 2 Tournament Wins: 1 | Draft Organization Next Season: Keeper v. Non Keeper Since its been decided that owners in the league this past year will be allowed to keep one of their guys they had this year should they so choose, I'm batting around ideas on how I want to do the draft.
Whoever keeps a guy technically won't get a first round pick, the guy they keep will just count as that.
What I'm thinking about doing right now, is holding a random draw for the new people, and the old people who don't keep guys, having them pick, and then doing a big redraw for rounds 2-15.
Other things I can do are break the "Keepers" and the "non-Keepers" into groups, draw for each of them, and then combine them to how we think they'd best fit into the snake style of the draft. Meaning put the "keeper" spots in slots 1-..., and then finish off the draft with the non keepers who would then get the first picks in the second round. Or vice versa.
The first option is probably the easiest, while the second option chances are would be fairer.

I'll probably start soliciting for sign ups come the beginning or middle of September or so so that we're able to get the draft done on time for the start of competitions and not miss the first week ala last year.
Of course, this also means I've eventually got to get cracking on the rules modifications for next year.

Non Keeper One thing we do in our fantasy baseball draft is establish "keeper rounds" -- meaning players drafted in rounds 13-25 are keeper eligible, making sure the best wrestlers are still available for anyone to pick up the next season. The keeper rounds are where you take your chances for a future star.
I realize I wasn't in the league last year, but to have someone latch hold of someone like Brent Metcalf for x-number of seasons makes things go sour. I'd have loved to hang on to Vladimir Guerrero for a few seasons and would have gladly given up my first round pick (whether it be #2 or #14). See the point?
The snake order is probably the best in terms of drafting.
