I've been looking at the teams that will go to the various tournaments.

It seems to me that PSAC and the Kaufmann-Brand are both pretty weak. Meanwhile, the Buffalo Open and Mat Town Invitational (NOT the Mat Town Open) both seem decent to me. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has better ideas for replacement tournaments.

So, in terms of scored events, we are no longer scoring the PSAC, the EMU Open, and the Kaufmann-Brand. We will replace them with Keystone, Mat Town Invitational, and Buffalo Open.

I definitely think these are upgrades, but would still like to hear everyone's thoughts.

I added a rule that trades involving the commissioner (i.e. me) can be overturned if four members vote to overturn it.

    Explanation:
    1) How did I arrive at the number 4? It's currently one-third of our league. I originally thought to write "one-third," but if we expand past 12 members, that number would go up to five. It's hard to expect 5 people to speak out if they don't like my trade. If 4 people think my trades are shady, that's enough for me, even if I (obviously) disagree.
    2) I didn't like the idea of having someone judge our trades from outside the league. I don't feel like someone outside our league would pay enough attention to our members to really know whether someone is dumping wrestlers or truly trying to make a move they feel improves their roster.
    3) So, I wanted it to be someone from within our league. If I picked one person, that person would be biased if the trade involved themselves. I feel like saying "any 4 members can vote and veto the trade" solves this problems.

    Thoughts?

Really don't like it much. 4 seems like a low number. If it really helps one guy(even if the trade is fair) it could be vetoed.

I would like to score all the aforementioned tournaments personally. If an argument can be made that it's decent, then it should belong and be scored. I'm not for scoring everything, don't get me wrong, but all those tournaments are competitive enough to be scored.

Isnt the PSAC a conference tournament? If so, I'm not sure you can exclude it.

The problem I have is that your getting rid of a midwestern tournament in the KB Open and adding three East Coast tournaments. This is going to mean many more matches for guys that have East coast wrestlers on their teams. I think geographically the tournaments that are to be scored should be somewhat even.

I thought it stood for Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Maybe the conference just hosts a tournament to make money. IDK. However, it is another East coast tournament. I think I'm gonna have to take a look and see just where all of our scoreable tournaments are located. Guys can really get screwed in these early season tournaments if they don't have wrestlers in the right location geographically.

How about the Harold Nichols Open? Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, UNI, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Mizzou have all had wrestlers there in the recent past.

I don't think your rule encompasses enough scenarios Gold. Let's say two parties pass a very unfair trade, you don't veto it, but the league is outraged. Shouldn't there be an option then for the 4 vote overturn as well? Or if you veto a trade that everyone else thinks is fair then should it be able to be overturned with 4 votes?

Do you think the rule should be JUST for trades involving you? Maybe I'm over thinking this.

PSAC is perhaps a conference in other sports, but it's not treated as a conference tournament in wrestling. Half of the PSAC isn't D1. Most (all?) D1 PSAC teams wrestle in the EWL.

I see where your coming from about the geography of tournaments. We can keep the Kaufman-Brand, and add the Harold Nichols. As I look at the K-B from last year, it's not as weak as I remembered.

But here's the thing, the midwestern schools just don't have/attend many tournaments. I can only find one school that has the Kaufman-Brand on their schedule: Mizzou. Two schools, UNI and Iowa State, have the Harold Nichols on their schedules. Hopefully more people show up to those, as has been the case in years past.

We can go ahead and score PSAC, too. I said to delete it because the only D1 teams are Edinboro, Bloomsburg, Millersville, Clarion and Lock Haven and none of those are particularly strong teams. However, those are 5 D1 teams that are guaranteed to have full lineups there, so we should probably score it.
