Re: All Star Match fantasy impact
I actually brought this up to Vais the other day, I think 10/5 is the way to go.
Its not quite as good as having a dude bonus his way through the KB but its a lot better then 3/0. And for guys who wouldnt have a tournament that week its a nice bonus without being huge and gamechanging.
Re: All Star Match fantasy impact
The Kaufman-Brand is such a weak tourney. Probably the weakest we score. No tougher than a tourny like the Oklahoma City Open.
Though I've always been against it, I'm warming to the idea of scoring all tourneys, though. As it is, schools like Okie State don't have any scored tournaments (Reno, but thats it). ISU is more or less the same. I don't know... We'll have to discuss it after the season.
EDIT: I see now that Okie State isn't even at the ToC this year, but are in fact at Kaufman-Brand, which doesn't get bonus points. Damn, their schedule is terrible.

All-Star = 0 points for getting beaten by Foster vs Sonny getting a couple of majors and a pin or two = 10+ points....
I'm getting screwedddddddddddddddddd
You are not really getting screwed until yohn rips his knee out . That is why I believe all tournaments should be scored -if Navachov breaks his leg at the ''Meat Head'' open he won't get any points but that leg is still broken .

Re: All Star Match fantasy impact
I have to agree with Herk (did I just say that??) but this year is nearly a crap shoot as to who is getting a NWCA bid. I never would have guessed I would have Germaine Lindsey in there....!
Scoring it 10/5 would make sense if the #1 & #2s "always" got the bid & accepted it. Maybe 3 points just for being picked & then regular points from there.
Also I have been thinking this since last year that all tourneys should be scored. I have found websites for nearly all of them & it would be still relatively easy to calculate. GBR & I helped out Gold @ the end of the year last year so I know this from experience.
This is my list of tournaments I have found so far this year, (Bold scored, Blue Bonus):
Name Rounds
Binghamton 3
Bison Open 4
Body Bar Invitational 4
Cliff Keen Invitational 5
Cowboy Open (Wyoming) 4
Cyclone Open 5
Eastern Michigan Open 3
Oklahoma Gold/Brockport 3
Hokie Open 4
Kaufman Brands/Omaha (??? I am assuming they are the same) Open 5
Keystone Classic PENN 3
Michigan State Open 4
Midlands 5
Missouri Open 3
NWCA All-Star Classic 1
Navy Classic 3
New York State Championships 4
Penn State Nittany Lion Open 4
Oklahoma City Open 4
PSAC 3
Reno Tournament of Champions 4
Southern Scuffle 5
NC STATE Wolfpack Open 5
Wilkes Open 4
So far there are SEVEN unscored tournaments. Maybe we should take a poll to see if we want to score them all before the season starts...
Re: All Star Match fantasy impact
I'm all for scoring all tourneys, but its too late now. Mizzou competed in the Lindenwood open this past weekend. I could have started Waters.

Yeah and you would have gotten 30 points just because he pinned a bunch of SCRUBS. Thank gosh we dont score these horrible tourneys.
Scoring all tournaments will pretty much hurt good players and help bad ones. It also helps worse wrestlers and teams who wrestle garbage competition. I know every team wrestles some bad duals but if we scored everything there would probably be some AWESOME fantasy teams that dont make the playoffs because other players drafted guys strictly on how many gargabe opens they would attend.
Re: All Star Match fantasy impact
The thing is, the vast majority of the wrestlers at tourneys like the K-B, EMU, and MSU are just as bad. Maybe some of the other tourneys like Binghamton, too. In a lot of weight classes, the only thing separating a tourney like K-B, EMU, MSU, or Bing from a tourney like Lindenwood is the finals. One quality match, two if we're lucky.
