You throw out Luke Manuel and Glasser as if those are bad losses. Both of them were ranked in the top 10 for most of last year. Manuel was undefeated and sitting at #3 or 4 for a while. Rella was a very solid wrestler who spent most of the year ranked.

I do think Zeerip could win the Big 10 this year, but there are a lot of guys at his weight that could. It's just not a weight that has a standout guy. Meanwhile, Ruth will be making freshman errors and cutting like crazy down to 74. You could have gotten him in the 12th round--about the time I took Zeerip.

And I already explained why I dropped him and picked up Booth; look at the post right above yours.

Since I have BOTH Glasser & Manuel, I will definitely agree with you on this point, lol

I doubt he'll surprise me all that much. I won't really be surprised if he makes the R12. I won't really be surprised if he places 3rd or 4th at Big 10s. Really even in the finals, because like I said, it's a pretty weak weight. I also won't be surprised if he finishes 5-6 in the Big 10 and wins just a match at NCAAs. I don't think he's a bad wrestler, I just don't think he'll be a superstar as a freshman and am not sure what to expect.

Moreover, He lost to McIntosh at Jr. Nationals. Now, obviously that says that McIntosh is very good. But Ruth was about as well regarded as McIntosh coming out of HS, so I would have expected more progress from him.

He also has a win over Mcintosh in FS, and he beat jordan blanton in fs convincingly.

Yes, but that's the result I would have expected from him every time. I didn't know he beat Blanton, though.

Neither results honestly mean much to me. But when I see guys getting to legs and finishing, that's something I put stock in and that's what i've seen in Ed's freestyle results.

This cat is tough to take down, has lots of leg attacks, strong as an ox, gets out on bottom very well and is serviceable from top. I think he's going to have an immediate impact.
