Fantasy and the tournament
This was the first year that I have attended the tournament and been in a fantasy league both. The league makes the already great tournament even more fun. It made me really pay attention to matches that I normally wouldnt watch. Thanks to Boris Novochkov, Chris Diaz, Chase Pami, Patrick Bond, Kirk Smith, and all the Oregon State wrestlers that were on my team this year. I had a good time watching them at the tournament.
I was kind of nervous all weekend long because I was without a computer and I wasnt quite sure how everyone elses team was doing. I knew that I was having a good tournament but I thought others might be doing just as good. Gold sent me a text last night saying that Gage had won. I instantly got pissed because I wanted to win. Then he told me he was just messin with me and all was good. Cant wait to do this all over again next year.
Re: Fantasy and the tournament
ROTFL! I wish i had a camera for that! The kid finished 3rd! Had DS not gotten injured I might have qualed for the NCAAs & maybe even beaten Vais for 2nd but oh well, it was fun anyways.
I have to agree that it really heightened my interest overall in the competition all year. I am looking forward for next year too. As matter of fact I was even thinking of creating a projected ranking list for next year, (as long as Jens hasn't done THAT already!)
Ok Gold, does DT AA next year? You wanna stick with 4x NCAA champ? Would he have AAed this year? Cyler finished 6th & Cyler beat DT in the finals of the NLO open. Jus wonderin...

DT would have DEFINITELY aa'd this year, and will be a title contender next year. He's so legit it's scary. Far far better prospect than anyone Cael has coming in or that is already there.
Re: Fantasy and the tournament
David would have contended for a title this year. I think at the end of the year he would have beaten Cyler by a few points. What's more, Cyler has never done his best at tourney time, and David is going to... Well, my sig can tell you what I think he's going to do come tourney time.
I will stick with my 4x NCAA champ prediction that I made some 15 months ago. It's like I've told you in PMs KR... I'm one that thinks Cael's forte is not motivating his wrestlers, but Taylor is already incredibly driven so that won't be an issue. Cael knows what it is to focus, and knows what it takes to win, and David will learn those things from him.
Like I said, I stand by my prediction. The only thing is, I think he might be in a weightclass with Burroughs and Caldwell. It will be a true test of his mettle, and I think everyone will see that he is a very special talent in addition to being an incredibly good guy. I would have much preferred that he went to ISU or Okie State (assuming he wasn't going tOSU for sure) because I don't know how much I'll be able to root for PSU in the coming years...
