And this keeper rule that herkey describes could be great for me as I could take Luke manuel in the 12th or Eric Morrill in the 11th next year.

Of course, it helps Herkey a lot too he could take: Kirk Smith in 6th, and Montell Marion in 12th.

It would help in that I could keep Montell but I hadnt even looked at the drafts yet. This is just the way we do it in our fantasy football league and everyone has a good time with it. It makes it more interesting and fun than your "everything has to be fair socialist rule".

You'll also remember that I wasted two other picks on LeClere and Slaton to end up with Marion as my starter.

"i dont think anyone with good sense would be drafting backups in the event of injury except herkey."

This is a direct quote from the draft thread from VA. Good thing I drafted Marion when nobody esle wanted him. I'm sure other people drafted people they thought to be sleepers late in the draft and it makes it more fun if they get to keep them for cheap since they bought them cheap.

Ok, so this year you got the first overall pick, and now this year you want to be able to have an additional advantage over new people by being able to take top 2 round picks in the late round.

I love how making things fair and having a level playing field is "socialist." Gotta love the GOP mindset.

You drafted the guy who lost the wrestle off(Leclere) that's who I was talking about.

No, none of this would start until next year. We start over with a new slate and start the keeper portion of our league next year. Nobody would get to keep a wrestler this year since it was not in the rules at the begining of this season. You cant just impliment a keeper rule after the season is basically over. People may have played the game differently throught the season if they knew there was a keeper rule.

Why does the field have to be level at the begining of every year? If we are playing in a league where most of the players are going to be back every year then keeping a guy and building your team to have an advantage for the next season should be entirely acceptable as long as everyone else has the chance to do it. If they chose not to that is their own fault.

We don't need the rules to level the playing field every year. This isnt France.

If I draft someone in the 12 round next year and I want to keep him the following year I shouldnt have to give up my 1st round pick for him.

I agree that you shouldn't have to give up your first round pick for a keeper. But, I also have a problem with the "drafted position" concept. What if you acquired him in a trade? Do you "rate" him where he was drafted by another player? I think that is patently unfair.

I'm ok with your keeper being your first round pick, but I also agree that will be no keepers after this season. I certainly would have reconsidered trading McDonough if I knew then that I'd be able to keep him for next year.

Yes on keepers next year. Keeper is your first choice. If you don't like it, don't keep anyone.

Edit: I changed my mind, now that I think about it. Such a system could reward someone who by luck of the draw gets 1st draft choice next year for 3 more years. I vote no on keepers.

Okay, first you agree that you shouldnt have to give up your first round pick...Then you want keepers but not until after next year...Now you don't want keepers at all. You change your mind more than my wife.

To get away from having all the best players already taken before the draft even starts I suggested that we only let players keep a wrestler if he has been drafted after the second round. This would keep the "best" wrestlers in the draft from year to year.

Is there any way that I would be able to join this league next year?

Wrong, you just read badly. I didnt' change my mind once. My point is you dont "lose your first round pick" you use it on someone you choose to keep. When the first round ends, you will have one wrestler. It is quite simple. I never said I didnt want keepers until after next year either. We can do them next year, just not the way you reccomend.

Exactly you dont HAVEto keep anyone, you can draft in your regular postion.

Herkey GOP is trying to make it so he has a significant advantage NEXT year too. (as if having the first overall pick wasnt enough this year) He may like to win that way next year, but it is hard enough to beat people who have played before when you are new...it is even worse when people have drafting advantages.
