Thumbs Up! The Official "Woe is Me" Thread

Welcome. Consider this a place where, among friends, we hope you'll feel comfortable and safe to discuss all the ways you have been emotionally abused by your fantasy team. Through opening up and group therapy, we will all heal together. I'll start it off.

My name is Gold, and I'd like to express my displeasure with my heavyweight corps. Allow me to explain.

    1) I drafted Dudziak in the 3rd round, which I think was a decent time to pick him. I know Duke doesn't have a great schedule, but when they do wrestle, they face easy opponents, he was a lock for conference champ, scheduled for the Scuffle, etc. Not to mention he's a returning NCAA finalist and had as good of a shot as anyone to win it this year as anyone. Well... We all know what has happened with Dudziak, and the "Dud" has wrestled all of ONE scored matches for me this year.

    2) After it was discovered that Dudziak's future was in question, I felt the need to pick up a heavyweight to score me some points. After considering a lot of options, I settled on David Wade from Eastern Michigan. He's probably not going to be a conference chance, but he was scheduled for a boatload of January/February duals against a bunch of people he should have no trouble beating (out of 17 Jan/Feb duals, I would favor him in all but 3 or 4). Around this time, apparently his coaches decided that he should start splitting the starts with another guy, so Wade only got half of those matches tops.

    3) I made a trade for Monteiro. The jury is still out on this move. He has a decent shot to win the PAC 10, but he has missed some time since I picked him up due to injuries.

Altogether, I think I've gotten about 25 points from my heavyweight spot this year. How pathetic is that? Someone please send me some tissues...

    1. My first draft pick was Jordan Burroughs. He scored a total of 32 points for me.

    2. My second draft pick was Nick Gallick. He scored a total of 7 points for me.

Both seemed like pretty safe picks to rack up points and possible national championship runs. I never thought Derek Valenti would score about double the amount of points for me as Burroughs and Gallick combined.

    3. The weather is not in favor of my fantasy team. I have to lead the league in cancelled matches (at least 11 so far). In December, I lost 4 matches in which Henrich and Valenti were favored (probably for bonus).

TODAY, I already have had 7 matches cancelled due to the weather. There may be more this weekend. It is unclear whether any will be rescheduled. Henrich (vs. ODU and George Mason), Valenti (vs. ODU and George Mason), Cannon vs. UNCG, Borshoff vs. UNCG and Nicholson vs. UVA.

That's a lot of wins and a lot of bonus points that I won't get. Just when I thought I was looking good to make the playoffs ...

    Nice thread, Gold.

Yeah your first two picks flopping are pretty rough. I'll also submit that one of my early picks, Garrett Scott, decided to quit the Edinboro team before ever wrestling.

I've also had a lot of trouble at 125 this year. I drafted 2 125s (Bonanno and Futrell) and neither of them have wrestled. I then picked up Mytych because I heard he was moving back down to 125, but he has not. Lara is ok, but he's not going to do much for me in the post season.

I have gotten very few points from my first pick Jayson Ness. But through some trading and some quick add drops I've managed to build a pretty nice team.

    125
    Martinez/Morrill-Robles
    133
    Ness-Ness
    141
    Parks-Krom-Krom will be back
    149
    Ruschell-Ruschell
    157
    Hall-Hall
    165
    Brown-Meade/Brown
    174
    Lewnes-Lewnes
    184
    Caputo-Caputo/bshaw/bosak
    197
    Beatty-Taylor
    285
    Berhow/Steele-Steele

At different points on my team I have had the following
    Matt Mcdonough
    Bryce Saddoris
    Eric Lapotsky
    Jamal Parks
    Chris Diaz
    Shane Onufer
    Jordan Blanton
    Clayton Foster
    Rick Schmelyun

All these guys were pivotal trading pieces that helped me shore up every weight.

Vais, I'm seriously considering deleting your post. This is a place for wallowing and sympathy not bragging about how you've "managed to build a pretty nice team." As a matter of fact I'm submitting your name to the Review Board to be DQ'd.

I'm with you, Gold. Your big woe is that Ness hasn't scored that many points? Really? I just looked up his record -- 16-0 with 11 falls, 1 med default and 4 decs. That's 84 points. That's 45 points more than my first and second picks combined. Nothing wrong with that.

Really? Well did you already forget I chair the Review Board?

Besides, I'm trying to inspire! Things don't always go great, but sometimes you can trade people Jamal Parks for Matt McDonough and make your team way better(Just an example)

Gold no matter what you are still a precious precious metal.

LOL! Hey I don't think that was really a bad trade. At the time my 141s were Mike Mangrum and Pat McLemore and I don't know if either of them had a winning record.

Even in retrospect, McD is still a frosh and they sometimes choke in March.

Yeah, I was kidding, wasnt a bad trade then and really the jury is still out until Matt gets on the podium.
