I have to say though. I'd love to see a DS v. JB match, so part of me is hoping that it's true.

There is definitely a lot of parity. I noticed it the whole time we were drafting.

Yeah, maybe I'll just call him and ask him. What's a few thousand more runs around campus?

    Herky's Terky's

125 Zach Sanders showed that he is an Iowa wrestler at heart. By placing sixth last year and beating guys like Falck, Nicholson and Robles he is a lock to aa and imo challenge TNick for the title. Most wrestlers make their biggest improvement their sophomore year.

133 Kubec finished 2nd in the Pac10 last year and will probably do so again this year. Oregon St wrestles a weak schedule which leads to bonus points for above average wrestlers like Kelly.

141 This is an interesting weight for Herky's Terky's. The spot in the first half of the season will belong to either Dan LeClere or Montel Marion. LeClere is a legit aa contender and if Marion can beat him he must be too. The word is that Marion is making this decision tough. Slaton will be back in the second semester to decide the spot for the title run. Whichever of these three gets the nod will be a force. Oh, and I drafted Cody Cleveland last year with an early pick and regretted it. But he was still there late so I'm taking another shot on him. He has potential to do well.

149 Brent Metcalf is a guy that is virtually unknown in college wrestling. He has yet to prove that he is capable of wrestling a full season and sustaining the type of relentlessness the Hawkeye program is known for. I took a chance with him on the very first pick out of fear that he might not make it back to me in the second round. I hope it works out.

157 Chase Pami is a two time PAC10 champ and a 7th place finisher last season. He had 27 wins last year but not many bonus points. Don't really know too much about him.

165 I felt bad taking Reader when Morningstar was still left on the board but Reader scores points and has been really tearing it up this offseason. I think he takes the leap over morningstar this year and contends in a very tough weightclass. (Cant believe I wrote that for the public to read)

174 Jay Borschel is a Bull and is back to win the whole tamale. Last year he was a little banged up but still scored bonus points in 15 of his 30 wins. This year he wears the belt home.

184 I hope Kirk Smith doesnt end up RSing. If he doesnt he could have a big year. A two time pac10 finalist and one time AA, Kirk majored LeBlanc twice en route to a 38-3 record. In short. Stud.

197 I don't know much about Jones but 15 of his 29 wins earned his fantasy team bonus points. 12 of those were pins. Matt Casperson wrestles for Boise St.

HWT. Erekson will be out for a while but he will win an NCAA title when he gets back. In the meantime Blake Raising will make a name for himself setting up a great career with the Hawks.

Herky's Terky's have potential NCAA champions at 125,141,149,174,and HWT. I've got a great tournament team but my regular season may suck. If I can just even limp into the finals I will win this bitch.

    Nevada Nutbusters...

Actually I really like my team but see others have impressive line ups as well. it is going to be an interesting competition as some luck I think will win this for someone which is what happens every year...some all star gets hurt, some unknown rises & the usual unexpected under-performers & over achievers!

    125
Escobedo, placed 4th as FR, NC as Jr, 5th last year, also beat Ness 2xs, avenged loss to Flack in 2008. Won Midlands, FILA cadet FS champ, 2x B10 champ. Has the ability to win NC again this year. Top competition in B10 will be Sanders & Pataky, don't wrestle PSU & have MN at home.

    133
Herkey didn't like Fanthorpe for under performing last year. The exact reason I like him as he will be under KJ this year & will want to atone. 2x B12 champ, 2x Midland runner up also midlands 3rd. B12 competition in Oliver. 2 of his tough tests will be on the road in MN, (Ness) & Ok St (Oliver) & will have Iowa & Dennis @ home. Has career rec 80-23. Like him to repeat as B12 champ & place like he did his Soph yr.

    141
I wanted Gallick but I like Krom & Molinaro both. Krom is under Kerry McCoy & #1 ACC & wrestled @ PA powerhouse Easton High. Coming off R/S, will be very motivated. Biggest competition in ACC is Nelson (VA) he wrestles away & Diaz (VaTech) whom he gets @ home. Molinaro is only a Soph, AAed last year, 3x NJ champ. Biggest B10 competition are Humphrey (OSU) in Columbus, Russell, (MI) home & Leclere (IA) away. Lost 2 close matches to Russell last year. I like Krom to AA, currently ranked 3rd by NCAA. Molinaro not so sure about yet.

    149
Word on the street was Bubba Jenkins was RSing due to injury. Friends told me he had problems with his grades. It turns out he is coming back to PSU wrestling in December so I feel like I got a steal with my 7th pick getting a FILA FS champ & NCAA runner up. Obviously since this weight class has the 2nd most picks out of any other in our draft, people feel that this is a wide open race for 2nd place. The B10 has 8 of the top 24 in this class. Has beaten Palmer 2xs, lost to Metcalf 3xs, but people don't remember that he has beaten Jordan Burroughs, also beaten Mueller & Chamberlain & Kinser. Also he wrestled @ 157 his FR yr. He has his toughest competition on the road, (Metcalf, Ruschell & Palmer). The last week of Jan 2010 will be tough for him. I look for him to AA & challenge Metcalf for the B10 & NCs.

    157
I wanted Sanderson but I feel again that with my 8th pick I got a steal in Greco-Roman Olympian Jake Deitchler. Took 2 years off to compete internationally so it is more like he is very experienced Soph. After Burroughs there is a big logjam for 2nd like @ 149. The B10 is pretty slim @ this weight so other then Sanderson, (PSU, wrestles him @ home in Feb) & maybe Kinser or Couglin, (my back ups at this weight) There is no other competition for him. I expect him to be in the B10 finals & AA @ NCAAs.

    165
Another Golden Gopher in Dustin Schlatter, my #1 pick whom I took over defending NC King. Was NC as FR with 42-1 record @ 149. 3rd as Soph, (beating Burroughs that year as well) & 7th as a Jr (losing to Metcalf in the B10 finals). Was 28-2 vs ranked foes 1st 2 yrs of college. RSed last year & wrestled for the Senior Men's FILA National team @ the WCs @ 74 kg. Has PSU & Wisconsin @ home & Iowa & Indiana on the road. No dual with OSU. He is a def AA & I like his chances to win a NC. 5 of the NCAAs top 10 are in the B10.

    174
Trevor Perry is ranked #8 in NCAA rankings & 2nd in B10. 3x NCAA qualifier. I think I got a pretty good wrestler for my 10th pick. His biggest competition is Borschel of Iowa who Indiana doesn't wrestle this year. Wrestles Illinois @ home & Purdue @ Indianapolis. He has never AAed so I think that he is highly motivated to AA in a fairly wide open weight class.

    184
Jerome Ward, ISU.This was my 11th pick & again I like the wrestler I got, though I hoping for David Craig of Lehigh, & I was tempted to pick Pat Bradshaw of Edinboro, (Vais took him on the next pick). He is a RS Soph, B12 runner up as FR & 2x Illinois State champ. He is going to have experience learning from fellow big man KJ. He is #11 in the NCAA rankings & 2nd in the B12. Biggest B12 competition is Forster of Ok St who he wrestles in Stillwater. 184 had the least amount of picks in the draft so does that mean it's the tightest competition OR the least talented? I think Ward gets me some points & maybe he gets to the round of 12. If he AAs it's a bonus to me as I won't expect him too though he has the potential to.

    197
Eric Lapotsky of Oklahoma, definitely my weakest pick & link as out of the top 10 NCAA ranked wrestlers @ this weight class he was the last to go. He ranks 4th out of 5 TOUGH B12 wrestlers, (they obviously just about OWN this weight). But he is a PA HS wrestler who likes to pin his guys. Despite the mess that Sooner wrestling is, I think the brutal B12 schedule for Lapotsky makes him a better wrestler & he could AA come March.

My back up is Patrick Bond of Illinois whom I felt I could take a chance on as he is #2 in the B10. He is 4x VA state champ & 2x Fargo winner so I would say that he has definitely under performed in his college career. Maybe his Iowa coach will get him to "over achieve" & take an AA.

    285
Anyone paying attention will see what I was I was "CYA" on this. I took Ellis & Bradley 4th & 5th respectively as I was hearing more & more that Bradley has been taking on Ellis in pre-season & may win a spot to go with his new world junior title. Ellis is the defending NC but this is also a conference with Roshot, Zabriskie & Lane. Ellis has be one of the most improved wrestlers as earlier in his career he lost to Roshot & Zabriskie. Just like 197 it's pretty clear that the B12 owns this weight class. I'm just waiting it out to see who wins in wrestles offs. I like my chances that either one will AA if not be right in there for a NC. This is this leagues biggest competition has it has the most picks, (22) out of any other weight class.

    Summary
While it's not unrealistic that I AA with all my picks I think I will have at least 7 or 8 AAs with maybe 3 NCs. I actually already have 3 NCs in the line up now, (Escobedo, Schlatter & Ellis). I also have one Olympian, one World Team member, 3 FILA junior WCs. And other then Deitchler, Jenkins & Lapotsky all my starters are in the top 2 @ their respective weights in their conference so I think I will get a lot of points during the season, (I think Deitchler & Jenkins will quickly be ranked).

I also think I have a handful of guys WHO ARE DUE. And sometimes that makes all the difference.

I don't have a name yet - I am not feeling very creative today. I'll come up with something. My drafting tactic was mostly; best available wrestler.

125 Peterkin wins most of his matches. He doesn't wrestle down to his competition, so if he is supposed to win easily, he wins easily. He tends to lose close matches when he does lose. If I get to the tournaments he should place.

133 Bell - Bell wins the matches he is supposed to win. And loses the wins he isn't supposed to win. Very consistant. He will have a solid wrestler and will like place in the post-season.

141 Rader /Ciasulli - He was a bigtime stud. Lets hope he can bring that back. If he does he could even win this weight. Ciasulli is depth in case Rader can't do it anymore.

149 Grajales/Mueller - Both guys have been highly touted and haven't gotten it done for various reasons. I figure one of them could come through. They both have good skills.

157 Brown - One of the few guys in the nation that can give Metcalf an endurance type match. However, Brown seems to wrestle up and down, to the level of his competition. He won't get me a lot of bonus points. He 'should' be an AA if he wrestles his matches, instead of his opponents. Salazar - rusty after the Mormon Mission thing - could be surprise depth here.

165 King - With the confidence of being defending champion I look for him to score me lots of points, and if he doesn't repeat as champion I suspect he'll be no lower than 4th.

174 Lee/Litton - Lee was close to the best available at the time and is a bit of a homer pick. He can be tough. Should get me some points wrestling weaker competition. And perhaps surprise at the NCAA's. If he falters Paxton pick of Litton for me is a good back-up

184 Craig - He was close to being best available when I picked him. I just figure this guy should have at least one year where he lives up to his being the top ranked kid coming out of HS. If he gets there I scored. If he doesn't; oh well, at the time I took him it's not as though I overlooked some clearly better pick.

197 Brester - Obviously a stud. During the regular season I dare say he will score me more points than would Varner. Though Varner is the favorite for the NCAA's Brester is capable of beating him, and should beat everybody else.

HT Rey - Should get me some points by winning lots of matches against weaker opposition. During tournament time; whole knows. I suppose he'll have about the same chance 8 other guys going for places 4-8.

Seems like a pretty good regular season line-up that will struggle during tournament time.
I am 49, bald, ugly, and don't own a single cool thing. Kids like me though.

Looks like you screwed this one up....... I have an extra 149, so I can take Metcalf off your hands if you'd like.

I think I'll stick with him for a few weeks. Wanna get a feel of what kind of wrestler he is going to be.
