Is it safe for a coach to make a 13 year old wrestler drop weight by making him run around in hefty plastic bags? I know that USA wrestling rules don't advise this but the coach doesn't care and sees nothing wrong with this. He wanted the kid to lose 1 1/2 pounds and the match was just a few hours from start time. People are upset in our wrestling community and if it is indeed dangerous for a child to do that, we need to try to get this coach to see that it's wrong and not to make other kids do that. Thoughts?

I've been hearing alot of stuff about total-body workouts lately. The main idea behind it is that your knows body knows movements not muscle groups. I've looked it up and it seems logical.

What do you guys think? Total body or split? A mix of the two?

Last year we had a new head coach at our school and he had in my opinion a faulty way making weight for weds and saturday meets. He told our wrestlers for example making weight for weds...monday drink and drink and drink lots of water and have a minimal intake of food then on tuesday no food or water he said the weight would just shed right off of them. well a couple of them tried that and ohh did those two wrestlers looked sickly mid-way through the season their cheeks were sunk in their eyes were also and they wrestled like they didnt have any energy to perform luckly my family interviened talked them into eating and drinking properly. I'm asking for your all opinions on this because myself and some concerned parents were trying to have him removed this past off season we had other issues with him steming from breaking rules to performing some medical procedures on a couple of the wrestlers....thank you for reading and your comments
