The front strap keeps getting over my face and I can't figure out how he tapes it! When I do, there's "Bumps." Can't really describe it. I want it to fit on my head instead of having spaces. Thanks in advance.

The site HSWrestling.Net is fully optimized for search and ready to become a very successful High School Wrestling resource, however, I personally don't have the time to manage all of the content the website needs to be successful.

The site is currently ranked in Google for the following:

#1 "High School Wrestling"
#3 "High School Wrestling Rankings"
#3 "National High School Wrestling Rankings"
#4 "Wrestling Videos"
#1 "Ohio High School Wrestling Rankings" (and many other states)
..... list obviously continues on a more niche track.

So, as you can see, it's ready to blow up. It currently receives 3,000 unique visitors a day, with very little effort on my behalf. The site just needs 2-3 people to update it with stories on a frequent basis and help organize and create team rankings both nationally and at the state level.

Your articles will all carry your Adsense or MatFish.com affiliate code as well as a profit sharing of the site's overall revenue. It's definitely not a 'get rich quick' website, but it has a ton of potential.

If you're seriously interested in a long term plan to work with the site, PM me.

This is my first year (freshman) , and first time wrestling my for a place in 160, almost 152, and I have First string JV. I wrestled a senior, I didn't get pinned, but I got 14 points scored on me, and I only scored 1 :( This was my first actual match with a ref and points and it wasn't TOO bad, but it's nowhere near as tiring as conditioning and practice. I'm seriously worried for my first match against another school friday. Not that I'll do too bad, but that I'll be too gassed to actually do anything well.

For high school and if your know the jr. high School length.

What's you opinion on length of time.

I know of one jr. high team that practices for 3 hours. The 3 hours they work hard. They start out running then move to drills/learning moves cause most of them don't know much, live wrestling, then finish up with a few cals. I'm afraid they are going to get burn out.

What's do you all think?

I was at pratice at another school when I came upon this move. It's from the bottom position. You reach back and grab you opponent's laces, elevate it, then post a leg and sit out while throwing their leg back to get a 1. Alternatively you can elevate the laces and spin on your knees to get on back of them. The coach said that they did this move alot in pennsylvania. Can anyone tell me the name of this move??

Ok i am 15 years old and go to Sequoyah High School. in Georgia. This is my first year wrestling and im a Freshman. We have been training pretty hard for the past 5-6 weeks(first 4 were conditioning). i weigh 123. i am pretty good at it and i like it alot. I want to go into the 119 weight class, because the 125 is virtually dominated by these 2 guys who have been wrestling for 2 years. I want to make varsity, and the 119 weight class only has one other guy in it and it is his first year too. Im pretty sure i can beat him. I just need tips on what to do when the match first starts, and what to do once i take him down to the mat. I already know how to do a single and a double leg takedown, and a duck under. But once i take them down to the mat and they are on their stomach i dont know any moves to get them on their back to pin them. Any Tips Are WELCOME. Thanks

I need some input. Right now, I'm a Sophomore in HS and weigh about 137. I don't know if I should try and get to Varsity or just settle for JV. If I want to wrestle on Varsity, I'll be dropping down to 130 and if I stay on JV I'll be at either 130 or 135. I really want to letter, but I'm not really sure I'm ready for better competition. I also have 2 more years to letter.

So, should I try to make it to Varsity or stay with JV for my Sophomore year? I'll most likely be Varsity my Junior and Senior years. It'll also be a fun experience on JV this year because a lot of my friends will be there but the competition will be a bit too easy.

It sounds a bit like I'm babbling, but I don't know what to do!

I'm working on redoing our team rules. If you have time take a look and let me know what you think of them, what would you change? Add? Remove?

Thanks a bunch.

Training Rules
An attitude that is deemed to be detrimental to the success of the team will not be tolerated. In such cases the wrestler will be made aware of the problem and the situation will be documented. If the problem persists, disciplinary action will range from a minimum of extra conditioning (and a letter of apology if the occurrence was at a competition) to a maximum of expulsion from the team. The severity of the consequences are at the discretion of the coaching staff and CHS administration.

Practice
Unless otherwise specified, all wrestlers must be dressed and on the mat at 3:30 PM.

1.	All tardies will result in 5 sprints
2.	Excused absences will result in 10 sprints. These sprints are NOT a punishment. They are intended to maintain top physical condition and are necessary due to the missed practice. 2 varsity letter points will be deducted for either a tardy or excused absence.

An absence is excused ONLY when one of the coaches has been notified in advance.
Ways to notify a coach:	Leave a message with Coach Morgan
Leave a message with TC
Leave a message with Anna or someone in the office
Put a note in my box
Leave me a message on my cell phone
Send me an email
Ways NOT to notify a coach: Tell a friend to tell someone.

3.	Unexcused absences:
a. First offense will result in 20 sprints and the loss of 4 varsity letter points.
b.	Second offense will result in 40 sprints and the loss of 8 varsity letter points
c.	Thirst offense will result in the immediate suspension from the team with an opportunity for a hearing.

IF YOU ARE IN SCHOOL, YOU ARE EXPECTED TO BE AT PRACTICE. IF YOU HAVE AN INJURY, YOU CAN STILL HELP OUT AND BE PART OF THE TEAM

Vacation Practices
If you have already planned to go on vacation with your family, you are encouraged to go. It is important, however, that if you do go, you take the time to work out. This is the only way to stay in top shape. If you are in town during vacation, you are expected to be ar practice. Excused absences over vacation will not result in the loss of letter points.

Weight Control.
You are free to choose the weight class at which you wish to compete. As coaches , we will make suggestions, but the final say is yours.

Failure to make weight at an event is a devastating occurrence. The effects are felt on the entire wrestling team in the loss of team points that wrestler would earn. In the event that a wrestler does not make weight, 25 sprints will be earned and 25 varsity letter points will be deducted.

Challenges.
Throughout the season a “wrestle off” system will be carrid out to determine who will represent the varsity and junior varsity squads. This system is described below. Howeer, it is the goal of the program to make each INDIVIDUAL and the entire TEAM as competitive as possible. In an effort to accomplish this, the coaching staff for the Colfax Wrestling program reserves the right to use andy wrestler in any position without completing the established “wrestle off” procedure. IN addition, the coaches reserve the right to alter the JV and Varsity line-ups at any time. The timing of our tournaments, the occurrence of unforeseen events, or the simple need to help motivate an individual could all be factors influencing the decision regarding who will represent the varsity and junior varsity squads.

Before each tournament, wrestlers will be given the opportunity to challenge up the ranks to become the number one man in their weight class. Following these challenges, the number one man from each weight class represent Colfax High School’s varsity wrestling team.

These “wrestle offs” are governed by the following set of rules:
Before each tournament (as long as time allows), all wrestlers will be given the opportunity to challenge for the varsity spot.
The system for earning the varsity position is as follows:
•	The challengers will wrestle against each other to determine who earns the right to challenge the varsity man.
•	The number one challenger now faces the varsity man.
o	If the varsity man wins the first challenge match, he retains his position.
o	If the challenger wins the first match, a best two out of three series will be carried out.
	This two out of three series will only be implemented if the challenger wins the initial challenge match.
•	All matches will follow the NFHS rules.
•	Upon returning from an injury, a wrestler must challenge the person who has taken his position.

Away Trips
BE ON TIME! The bus will leave at the scheduled time, with or without you.
Buses must be clean upon returning from a trip. You must pick up your own trash. A dirty buss will result in extra conditioning.

NO Cheerleaders or any other girls are allowed in your rooms on overnight trips. If you are going to ride hom with your parents after a trip your parents must personally tell me or another coach when they take you. If you are riding home with anyone other than your parent I must get an alternative travel plan BEFORE we leave for the tournament/meet.

Rules of conduct and sportsmanship
•	Swearing will not be tolerated. If you chose to swear, you choose to run sprints.
•	Poor Sportsmanship at an event is unacceptable. Throwing headgear, slapping your opponent’s or his coach’s hand, or any other type of unsportsmanlike conduct will cost you 30 sprints and the loss of 10 varsity letter points—per incident. You may also be made ineligible for the next competition.
•	It is up to you to keep your grades up. You must go to your teachers prior to each absence and find out what work you will need to make up. Education is the TOP priority and if you don’t take it seriously you will not be eligible to wrestle. If you are not eligible to wrestle then you will be expected to bring you homework with you to practice. You will stretch and warm up with the team. Then you will go and do homework while the rest of the team practices. At the end of practice you’ll be allowed to stretch again and condition with the team.
o	A mandatory study table may be instituted for any and all athletes if grades become an issue.
•	Colfax High School has a reputation for wrestling aggressively from whistle to whistle. We will maintain this tradition by making sure that our wrestlers are in better shape than any of our opponents. Stalling calls are a reflection on the discipline of the program and therefore, each stalling call will result in 10 sprints to help you get in better shape.

Individual Awards
Individual awards will be given at the conclusion of the season. These awards may include all or some of the following:

1.	Felber Award
2.	Most Outstanding
3.	Captains Award
4.	Most Improved
5.	Ironman
6.	Outstanding Freshman

**Wrestler of the Week awards may be given throughout the year.

125 Letter points are needed to receive a varsity letter. The points are received as follows:
Win by Pin 6 points (3 for JV matches)
Win by Tech Fall 5 points (2.5 for JV matches)
Win by Major Decision 4 points (2 for JV matches)
Win by regular decision 3 points (1.5 for JV matches)
Not getting pinned 1 point (same for JV)
Attending Practice 1 point.
Maintaining a 2.0 or better with no F’s 1 point per week

At a competition, all wrestlers who weigh in but do not get a match receive 1 varsity letter point. In addition, all wrestlers who weigh in and do get a match will get 1 varsity letter point.

During a varsity tournament, the letter points earned will be the number of actual points the wrestler accumulates for the team. During a junior varsity tournament, the letter points earned will be half of the points the wrestler accumulates for the team.

***There are anywhere between 87 and 97 letter points possible for attending practice, making weight and maintaining eligibility.

I'm seriously considering quitting this season. Last year our team produced 3 state place winners and a state champ(I was an HM in the rankings it was my first year) and the practices were hell. Well because of bogus politics we had to get rid of our coach and get 2 new ones. These coaches know nothing about wrestling at all. Here was the workout

2 mile run
1 set pull ups
Drill 30 min
Live wrestle 20 min
Weight training Curls 2x10
Tricep Ext. 2x10
Sit ups 2x50
Hindu Push ups 2x50
Most BS weight training possible since when do bodybuilding exercises help you get stronger anyway
Thats it. Ive never had what was considered to be a real practice so easy. And when we're doing crap like this we'll be a scrub school before long. So now my questions.
1. Is there any way I can convince the coach to try things the way we were last year?
2. Should I quit and go back to Judo with an olympic caliber training partner?

Sry my rant for now?

I am a wrestling coach at a private high school and the AD has suggested we charge our club kids $25 hr or $50 a practice and we have 40 practice dates. We do not have a feeder program because wrestling is not a sport at that level, they do offer football and basketball though. Our club is 5 years old and we charge $50 for a full membership and $35 for 1/2 membership which is just practicing time only. They also receive a teeshirt as well. A fitness room (wrestling room in our eyes) was built just two years ago and the coaching staff is not paid for services and is done on a voluntary basis. I would like to know what the wrestling communities opinions are on how this matter is offered and what you would do if you were in my shoes. I have 3 kids in the youth program of which I pay their fees.

Thanks and good luck this season,

Im curious to know if any of yall have advice for wrestiling up. i weigh 184 lbs and the lowest the hydration test will let me drop is 175; therefore, the lowest class i can wrestle in is 189, but coach would rather put me in 215 instead of bumping up a freshman because i have expierence.
I wrestled up to 215 last year some to fill the weight classes up from 171 and u got murderd most of the time unless they just did something incredibly stupid.
Im decently strong, i can bench 185 and can deadlift 425, and clean 180. but im not incredibly strong either.
I was wondering what kind of technique you believe i should pick up, what kind of moves should i work the hardest on and ect. Coach has adviced picking up a low stance where one knea is actually on the mat, i have never done this before so i don't know how to do it so some hints on that would be nice too.

I don't like being shot on so usually I like to shoot. The thing is that I'm not fast nor strong enough to get a clean shot so the other wrestler usually sprawls on me pretty hard. It would be fine, but they start to gator roll, "cement mixer", front headlock...you get the picture. I would just like to know what people do from an offensive people in the sprawl...I'm just looking for the takedown for the 2 points. Nothing flashy or anything.
Thanks!

This is going to be my last year wrestling unless i pick up club wrestling during collage. I started my Junior year in high school and i am now a senior. I wish I had started it much earlier, but life moves forward not back into time with out thoughts. I hope the best for my last season and everyone elses

Senior Tucker Armstrong, a CIF State championship contender, has left the Corona del Mar High wrestling team before the season and is back in Ohio, Coach Gary Almquist said in an e-mail Tuesday morning.

Armstrong, whose transfer to CdM from nationally ranked Graham High in St. Paris, Ohio during his junior year created a stir, wrestled six times for the Sea Kings last season. He never lost a match and won the 130-pound Pacific Coast League championship.

Armstrong missed the postseason last year with the Sea Kings after he traveled to Ohio, where a family member passed away in February, causing him to miss the CIF Southern Section Coastal Division individual tournament. Armstrong was CdM’s best hope to win an individual state title for the first time since 1976, when Spyro Kemble accomplished the feat at the school.

Armstrong won the Ohio State Division II 125-pound championship as a sophomore wrestler for Graham.

If Armstrong competes in his senior year in Ohio, it will be at his fourth school in as many years.

Hey this is my first year wrestling, I'm a freshman, and I go to my schools open mats every other night for the past couple weeks and my calves are starting to kill me. Normally they're fine, but at school when I stand up from sitting at a long time or after being in my stance, they really hurt when I stand. The front left side of my shins are starting to hurt too. Not like a Bruise, but like a weird pulling feeling. It's been like this for about a week, should I be worried, or is this just some weird soreness?

Okay, So first and foremost, I'm 16, about 143-144lbs and I'm 5' 2.75".
This is my first year trying out for wrestling. I was a cheerleader for 4 years so I have a good amount of leg strength but I'm not so fortunate with upper body. I can power clean only about 75lbs on a good day. Bad I know..

So I was wondering, what are some exercises to build up strength in the upper back and lower and upper back?

Thanks, Erika. :)

Well weight certification is tomorrow, and I weigh about 119.4. If I cut to 119, I'll be varsity, if not, I'll be JV behind the guy who got 2nd in state last year. So I was thinking about eating very light today, no salt or sugar products, and running about 5 miles, and not eating tomorrow, only drinking enough water for the hydration test. Is there something else I should do?
