Under the new qualifying rules it will interesting to see how that all plays out.

Lost to Iowa the year before last year 18-15.
In 06, lost to Wisconsin by 3.
Tied Wisconsin last year, who was a top 10 team at the time.
Beat Chattanooga the past two last years, who was ranked high last year.
Beat ISU a few years back
Wrestlers wrestled above their seeds at last year's NCAA's
Team finished 20th at last year's NCAA's, which was way above their rank.

Sorry, I'm an Iowan and I'll cheer for my local Iowa boys. You, like all of the other sqwawks, can choose to naysay on our Iowa boys who pose no threat to your "dynasty." I'm used to the naysaying from Iowa fans, but we don't need you anyway.

I have yet to see a dog qualify from the Big Ten. That being said, everyone and their mother qualifies from the Big XII(5). And don't tell me you haven't seen some "mothers" out their on the mat at the NCAA's from the Big XII.(5)

Yes, the Big 5 is included in my critique too of way too many-and too easy-qualification system.

They are allowing the conference champs and then they have an RPI system in place. With a few other wrinkles in there.

I was at the Iowa meet when they lost by three. UNI wrestled out of their minds and Iowa wrestled like complete sh*t. How did they do this year against Iowa. Comparing to Iowa isnt fair though. How did they do against other teams in the top twenty? They should constantly be top fifteen if not ten.

Wrestlers wrestling above their seeds and finishing 20th just proves my point. Why are the expectations so low?

I love the team. I like watching Iowa kids wrestle too. BUt those same kids are getting gypped because the coaching is bad. Those kids have the ability to wrestle better on the national scene than they do. They were deffinately a better team when Manning was there. Hopefully the new AD can get someone in there that will bring this once storied program back to national prominence.
