I was wondering if anyone else remembered this.

When I was a kid, Carver Hawkeye Arena couldn't stand Dwight Henson. I don't think Henson qualifies as a villan because I don't believe he was hated anywhere else. However, the couple of times I went to Carver Hawkeye to see the Hawkeyes battle the Cyclones during Henson's time at Iowa State, he had the entire crowd on their feet booing him.

I'll never forget when Henson defeated a Hawkeye and then bowed to the crowd in a very arrogant mannor with a huge smile on his face. The crowd was deafining with boos. The announcer got on the loud speaker and announced, "That was the first time Dwight Henson has ever defeated a Hawkeye". The crowd went nuts!

Not to bad mouth Henson, had him at a camp one time as a counselour, great guy! However, he made for great entertainment at Carver Hawkeye Arena playing the part of the antagonist!

Sounds like a chicken or the egg thing. You said they would always boo Hinson so if every time he walked in to Carver Hawkeye he got boo'ed then I don't blame the guy for taking a bow at the end of his collegiate wrestling career in front of the fans. Now if he acted like a Jack-A$$ like JH every time he wrestled I can see why the crowd would boo every time they saw him.

Regardless, any Hawkeye loss is a good loss in Gopher land.

Asking some old timers, it had something to do with Hinson walking off the mat in Ames, because he was too tired to continue the match.

The big reason hawk fans were on Hinson, was he was the king of "time outs".
Dwight was a awesome wrestler that was very explosive, kind of reminded me of another Cyclone, Tore Jackson. If not mistaken, Hinson was a 4X AA.
