| I bet your baseball coach was thrilled with that!

Tell me about it, this morning, I woke up and I shit a squirrel, but what I can't get is the damn thing is still alive. So now, I've got a shit covered squirrel running around my office and I don't know what to name it.

2. I was the first one who wrestled. I was obsessed with Hulk Hogan and I wanted to perfect my atomic leg drop. Much to my chagrin, it was totally different. But a lot of fun.
3. Aurora, IL, right down the street from you.
Edit, I don't feel so bad about question 2 now after Mojo's response.

10 officially, but I wrestled around with my dad and friends from a very early age. 2. Why did you start wrestling? Did you have a family member or someone else that was close to you who had wrestled and encouraged you to do so? Or did you start on your own?
My father wrestled for many years, and he started taking me along to dual meets (meats!) and tournaments when I was about 3 or 4 years old. I grew up in western Pennsylvania, where wrestling is a very mainstream sport. 3. What city and state are you from originally? Did you live in an urban area when you started wrestling or was it more country/suburban? Tell me a little about the demographics of the area you lived in when you began wrestling.
Greenville, PA, about 90 minutes north of Pittsburgh. Very rural, blue-collar, about 9,000 people in the early 80's. The gym was packed for every dual meet, regardless of our opponent. I've heard that Greenville holds the state record for most wins by a PA AA team, so there is a long history of wrestling in that town.
Cool topic DH.

My junior year in high school -- 16. 2. Why did you start wrestling? Did you have a family member or someone else that was close to you who had wrestled and encouraged you to do so? Or did you start on your own?
My wrestling coach had talked me into coming out. Had him for first-period PE. We were a wrestling town, so it got infectious once I started showing interest. 3. Originally from Newport News, Va., but moved to Poquoson, Va., when I was 12. Newport News was urbanesque, but Poquoson was damn near backwoods comparatively speaking. The two were only 10 miles apart. Poquoson has a legacy dating back to the late 1960's with wrestling. Nine state championships, runner-up something like 15 or 16 times. They used to bang on trash can lids and cram in for dual meets. I'd put our fans up against ANY District XI fans in terms of overall tenacity.

2. Because I was 5 and had nothing to do. My dad asked me if I wanted to wrestle, and I figured that it was just like WWF, which I loved, so I said sure. I didn't really like it as much as baseball, but kept doing it every year anyway.
3. Same as Twink, Newport News, VA. I'll stick with his description of urbanesque.

Mojo, you're bio should be put in front of every freshman HS wrestler and then tested on it. The career is a tribute to hard work and dedication to the sport. 95 out of 100 take a hike after a 1-15 record.

It's also a tribute to a H.S. coach who made hard work fun and who cared about every kid in the room, not just the ones who were good at first glance. Coach K made my one win that year seem like the first step up Mt. Olympus, and made me sooo hungry for win #2! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
