Default post wrestling careers

Why is it every other day I read where a basketball player is in jail or a football star is running a dog-fighting ring and most recently the ex 'World's fastest man' was arrested for selling heroin--

I have never read where an ex-wrestler did anything untoward-I am sure there are a few -but they are definitely the exceptions-WHY-what is so special about our sport that builds such character ? We work harder than everyone else -we get injured just as often -yet we don't turn into druggies or drug dealers .
Any one know why ?

That's what happens when you try and recruit thugs into sports that often just glorify that kind of behavior and gives them just a slap on the wrist for most of their actions.

Its because they are mostly black! Joking. Most wrestlers have a college degree so they can always get a job. Also, wrestlers in America don't make much money and are not celebrities so they have easier time adjusting to real life than premodonnas in basketball and football.

You don't hear about it because it's not in the news because wrestling isn't as popular as a sport. Wrestling has plenty of untoward characters-believe me. We have a lot of wonderful people, too, but we're not perfect.

Where did this "untoward" word come from?

Its because wrestling instills a self-disipline that most other sports don't and wrestlers don't have huge heaps of money to go around and do stupid stuff with.

Trust me, they are out there. Some, who are far too close to me, are in prison and have been in and out of jail since they stopped wrestling.

I'm also reminded of a former Penn State wrestler from a couple of years ago (who shall remain nameless).

Let's not kid ourselves, eh?

Have you ever gotten your ass handed to you in a game of basketball and felt absolutely humiliated by it or taken it personally? I know a lot of players that will take credit for some of the loss, or say, "well I did mess up during the 1st half" but unlike a wrestling match, in basketball there's always somebody else to blame.

Wrestling disciplines you in more than one way.

I was dunked on by Allen Iverson in the 8th grade in the same game Joe Smith swatted me off the backboard ... yeah, humiliated....

"White boy, off the court."

JT#1 ... some of us did other sports before wrestling.
