Just this evening, I was checking out the new feature at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, where you can view old NCAA Wrestling Guides -- the annual booklets featuring amateur wrestling rules and results for the previous year... I opened up the 1936 edition, and sure enough, in the rules section, there's a discussion of Pin Falls. Written exactly thusly. Gordon Solie may have been old, but I don't think he was writing the text for an amateur wrestling rules booklet 70+ years ago... Mark

Keep on keepin' on with your campaign to banish the pinf*ll word from the vocab of current sportswriters, and it may go the way of the tailfin and "grunt and groan boys", becoming a quaint old relic. Mark
