All,

I'm trying to undertake a project that will identify when programs were cut, where, when they were added, re-instated, etc.

The start of the list was already donated to us, but it's the years we are looking for. You'll notice on the link (below) there are blanks for the nearly 700 programs gone. This is of record, not just post-1972, but we need some accurate numbers to better support our stances and identify where and why we lose programs.

I posted messages on the OR, WA and CA forums with the list of teams. Hopefully, we'll get some responses for you. I will do the same with AZ, NV and ID.

St. Lawrence University - Division III National Champs 1988 - Program dropped in 1993. Tried to reinstate but Title 9er's got to the Trustees. Great battle between the coach, John Clark (Mitch's dad), and the female President of the University which eventually got the President removed. A great screenplay has been written called "A Coach's Journey".

Binghamton in New York (DI). I think it was dropped in 2004 but reinstated in 2006? Thanks to its alum Billy Baldwin.

Bismarck State College last year 2000-Brock Lesnar won NJCAA HWT title.
University of North Dakota dropped after the 1998 season-good friend of mine Scott Braun transferred to SDSU and became a 3X DII runner up(poor dude).
And if not mistaken Minnesota Duluth dropped after the 1994 season, Ron McClure was runner up that year for the dogs!
Sad stuff, some good programs that have had many great wrestlers.

Syracuse after the 1996-97 season. In the same announcement, they added of Women's Lacrosse in 1998 and Softball in 2000. The change was clearly to comply with title XI. Notably, when Penn State was out of compliance, they added Womens' Lacrosse to gain compliance without dropping wrestling.

Boston College decided to drop wrestling, men's lacrosse, and water polo after the 2002 season because "budget constraints".

Liberty University dropped wrestling after my Jr. season in 1994. They just re-instated it two season ago (2006-2007).
