If the reason was a mandatory year off the mat for lack of a release, that wouldn't matter to him. Not an issue.
Okay, no scholarship funding left? That wouldn't matter to the Caldwells, in state tuition would be less than NCST with a 50% scholarship. Not an issue.
Schiano nixed the football tryout. Could be. Schiano has been getting verbals from quite a few top notch kids including one from NC Many are receivers, and some will be flipped to the defense backfield....just what Darrion wanted.
Is he really only on 50% scholarship after AA'ing?

I don't see why Schiano would prevent Caldwell from trying out if he wouldn't be on a football scholarship. If he is just a walk-on, what can it hurt?

"Update, Rutgers just got verbals from 2 * * * * defenders LB/safeties. 6'2", 200+lb. No way does DC fit the in on the DI gridiron."
"Gerald Hodges just verballed. He's QB /safety and a wrestler from Paulsboro NJ, probably the best wrestling team in the state over the past 25 years."
Here are two reasons from above in the thread.

If Caldwell is wrestles and plays football, he has to be on a full football scholarship o no scholarship at all. He can't play football and have a wrestling scholarship under NCAA rules. I doubt Schiano wants to give a scholarship for a football runt.
