Actually an athlete CAN walk-on to football while receiving aid for another sport. Once they play one play in a game they have to be on a football scholarship. This is what happened to Goodman while at Nebraska.

Hard to keep up with all the rules changes-I remember Quinn Buckner playing 2 sports @IU 'til Knight said NO-also a little known QB named Tim Clifford played football and baseball-actually he was a damn fine QB who played a few years for the Bears--

I am guessing this to be the Alabama rule?

But a walk-on only for football does not fall under that rule I believe.

Anyone can start in any sport and not be on scholarship. The point being made was that Caldwell would be on a partial from wrestling and walking on for football. Terp clarified he can be on the roster with a partial wrestling scholarship, but if he gets into the game it would have to revert to full football scholarship.

Paulsboro is a regional HS in NJ drawing from one or two towns. Blair is a private boarding school drawing kids from all over the country. Paulsboro is consistantly one of the top teams in the state.
