Academic, community service awards presented at President's Cup Brunch

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The women's tennis and men's cross country teams earned the President's Cup Team GPA Awards for the highest cumulative grade-point average over the past two semesters on Sunday at the 13th annual President's Cup Brunch at the Riggs Alumni Center.
The event was co-sponsored by the M Club and the Terrapin Club.
University President Dr. C.D. Mote Jr. was on hand to present the team GPA awards. The women's tennis team won for the second time since the inception of the award in 1997, posting a team GPA of 3.52. The cross country team won for the fourth time in 13 years with a mark of 3.21.
The gymnastics and men's swimming and diving teams earned honors in the CHAMPS/Lifeskills Cup program. That award symbolizes the five categories emphasized by the program - academic excellence, athletic excellence, career development, personal development and community service.
