Wow. I had not seen that Jake won this. I'm shocked, disappointed that Lester won't be in the Olympics, but how can you be anything but happy for a high schooler who just fought his way into the Olympics against all odds?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | He had a big Frestyle win last year at 74kg (collegiate nationals?). I think if he concentrated on wrestling instead of cutting weight, he would be a threat to any one. I just hoping when they said he retired, that means he didn't retire from wrestling.

I don't think people realize that Harry was going to retire after this year no matter what. In his post match interview, he said his body feels like it is 90. This past year was rough on Harry with injuries. What I find interesting is what TC Dantzler said in his post tournament interview on FLoWrestling. Someone asked him if he was planning to retire after this Olympics. He said that he has no plans to retire because if he let himself think like that, he would lose the edge he needs to win a medal at the Olympics. That statement makes me wonder if Harry didn't lose his edge, having determined that he would not continue wrestling after this year. I talked with guys he wrestles with day in and day out. They say they have never seen Harry wrestle the way he did this weekend. Take nothing away from Deitchler, but it was not the same Harry Lester this weekend that we have been accustomed to. In fact, there were more than few upsets and a changing of the guard this weekend. I am still kind of reeling.

If we go: 125 Sanders 133 Ness 141 Thorn 149 Deitchler 157 Schlatter 165 Saf/Glasser 174 Sitch/Young 184 McPhail/Yohn 197 Eidensheink/Malamura/Geiger Hwt Berhow/Nord I think that is immediately a potentially stronger line-up then: 125 Ness 133 Mincey/Zilverberg/Mellmer/Murphy/Marcicki/Johnson 141 Thorn 149 Schlatter 157 Safratowich 165 Glasser 174 Sitch/Young 184 McPhail/Yohn 197 Eidensheink/Malamura/Geiger Hwt Berhow/Nord I like line-up #1 versus line-up #2 if I have to go against Iowa. I know that Deitchler will most likely redshirt and probably should but if you think about going up against Iowa and others, I like the thought of possibly splitting at 149 and 157 versus potentially losing both. Same thing at 125 and 133. I do think that J. rob is intrigued now at this point what J.D. may be able to do at 149. Don't forget that he is not too damn shabby and a folkstyler, he just happens to be phenomenal as an 18 year old Greco-Roman wrestler. Anyone who doesn't think this Olympic Berth won't give the kid the potential over the top confidence he needs to compete as a true freshman is fooling themselves. Hell, Bubba Jenkins won Jr. Worlds and came back a much improved wrestler albeit with no gas tank. Just thinking out loud. Sorry.

I don't think they pull his RS based on Greco. Deitchler struggled with Salazar at the clash (won like 11-9) and lost to Mason from Blair. If he is that beatable at the HS Level in Folk, he has a ways to go on shot defense to compete in college immediately. Not saying he couldn't step up in the off season and really put together a solid leg defense, but he's gonna need to improve at the same pace he has in Greco, but against a much wider audience than Greco has to offer.

The match at the Clash was great. If memory serves me correct, Dietchler was behind near the end of the third and scored a takedown or two to take the match. He doesn't quit and I like that.
